Harley-Davidson is recalling 43980 Street 500 and 750 models

Harley-Davidson recalls 43,980 Harley-Davidson Street 500 and Street 750 models.
These are vehicles from the series from May 19, 2015 to December 6, 2018

Harley-Davidson has recalled 43,908 of its street motorcycles due to a brake problem. It can lead to an accident in unfavorable conditions.

Harley-Davidson has already notified its authorized dealers, who in turn will notify their customers with Harley-Davidson Street 750 and Street 500 models whose motorcycles were manufactured between May 19, 2015 and December 6, 2018.

The brakes could rub due to corrosion of the brake caliper piston bore. If not recognized, the increased resistance can affect the stability of the motorcycle and increase the risk of an accident.

To fix the problem, the company says dealers will install new brake calipers front and rear.

The unplanned conversion means that production of the Street models has currently been stopped. It could be months before Streets deliveries resume.

“Only when there are enough components available again can production of the Street 500 / 750 begin again,” said Amy Giuffre, spokeswoman for Harley-Davidson. According to Harley, the recall has been delayed on the NHTSA website due to the US government's shutdown.
