The 131ci kit in a Street Glide Special and the Wilbers Nivomat suspension change everything!

I remember when I took the first Milwaukee-Eight 107ci engine on a long tour in 2017. It was one of the first Harleys ever with the Milwaukee-Eight engine and I wasn't sure whether my plan to ride it straight to the North Cape was a good idea.

In the end, I rode 30,000 kilometers on it that year and apart from an accident on a mountain passage in Norway, where a bus tipped me into a rock face, it carried me all over Europe. Today we know how much potential the Milwaukee-Eight still has, something I would never have expected from Harley-Davidson back then.

The Milwaukee-Eight engine has enormous potential

The engine was designed in such a way that it can cope with the increasingly stringent European standards. But you have to ask yourself why it is even necessary for vehicles that are only used for 80 % recreational purposes to have to comply with such strict regulations.

We are currently running Harley-Davidson Milwaukee-Eight engines with up to 117ci in series production and they ride really well. In the meantime, tuning has already gone up to 144ci, which is very powerful. In Oxford, England, H-D technicians have got well over 200 hp out of it and are driving it with the original gearbox, I still have an invitation in my pocket, I'll have to see it live sometime.

At Harley-Davidson in Lübeck, which also has a very good reputation in the scene for DynoJet Mapping, the 131ci has now been installed on a Harley-Davidson Street Glide Special from 2020 in the color Zephyr Blue / Black Sunglo. A DynoJet mapping tuned to the vehicle turns it into a real monster. All assistance systems continue to work and there are no indicator lights flashing, which is a sign of a good tuning.

What you should never forget when tuning is also to keep an eye on the suspension, on the 131ci Street Glide Special they have installed the Nivomat suspension from Wilbers. At the front and rear, the corresponding spring elements were replaced with Wilbers. If you are traveling without a lot of luggage or tuning, you can certainly manage with the original suspension as long as everything is set up correctly. However, if you have more in mind, you should definitely look into the subject of suspension.

In order to find the correct basic setting, the rider's weight is taken into account, which is the basis for everything that the Nivomat system adjusts to when the circumstances change. This means that as soon as there is a passenger on board or a lot of luggage on the Harley-Davidson, everything changes. The Nivomat system regulates itself after a ride of approx. 300 meters and automatically adjusts to the new conditions. The Street Glide becomes incredibly stiff, which prevents it from bouncing at higher speeds.

As standard, the Street Glide Special is limited to 178 km/h. With the 131ci and after the DynoJet mapping, it is open. This means that it quickly reaches 220 km/h and rides like it's on rails, no comparison with the original chassis. The 131ci is incredibly powerful, it's not always just about the high speeds, it should also stay on track when the torque is called up and you accelerate it out of the bend.

It is a powerful combination, the engine pulls continuously from below, even in 6-speed it pushes powerfully. The 131ci are the equivalent of 2146ccm³, which now build up the pressure in the Milwaukee-Eight V2 to produce an incredible 200Nm of torque.

The projectile is priced at 50,000 euros.
