20 years of European Bike Week at Lake Faak
The official part of the Harley-Davidson European Bike Week started at Lake Faaker See on Tuesday.
This year Harley-Davidson its 20th European Bike Week anniversary. If we look back over the years, a lot has happened. The Harleywood was created for the 95th anniversary when Harley-Davidson was looking for a place to celebrate in Europe. At that time, Peter Prägant (who died in 2015), together with the director of the tourist office and other people involved, tried to organize the Harley meeting at Lake Faaker See get it, it wasn't easy, but they did it.
Since then, Bike Week has become an integral part of the Carinthia region. Fans of the Harley-Davidson brand come from all over the world to Lake Faak to watch the event, which is unique in the world.
There are around 100,000 bikers in the region every year, and no one would have expected that the event would develop like this. The bikes now head all the way to Velden, but the heart is still the Harley Village in Faak am See.
A few great souvenir photos were sent to us from our Facebook Harley community, the hit is probably the ticket from 1998 that Jochen Ra sent to us, on which Nancy & Willie G. Davidson originally signed.
Martin Schmieder also found some from 1998, many thanks to Martin Schneider, Melanie Kors, Andrea Stevanella, Andreas Seyffart, Joe Black, Guenter Wendler, Gerd-Ursula Kniest and others for sharing!
