30 years of Harley-Davidson Stuttgart – that was celebrated!
The big anniversary party took place in Korntal in May
In 1985 - the year of Live Aid and Commodore Amiga - passionate US bike fans Fred Pistor and Gerd Maier opened their Harley-Davidson dealership in Leonberg. When their shop was bursting at the seams ten years later, they moved to their current location in Korntal, where another major renovation and expansion was carried out in 2010. The two people from Stuttgart and their 14-person team now offer new and used Harleys, the associated service as well as fashion and accessories on an area of around 2,200 square meters. The 30 years seem to have flown by for the makers of Harley-Davidson Stuttgart - time to celebrate! Of course, befitting a big anniversary party.
That's why we went to Zuffenhauser Straße 93 in Korntal for a weekend in May in the best weather. The large “Harley on Tour Truck” was on site: more than 40 current models from Milwaukee were available for free test drives. Numerous visitors took advantage of the tempting offer.
On Saturday, stuntman Rainer Schwarz - announced by the thunder of a running radial engine - provided the finest thrills with breathtaking motorcycle acrobatics, and of course everyone who wanted to give themselves or their Harley a new outfit for the 2015 season found what they were looking for: alongside the specialists from Harley-Davidson Stuttgart Renowned exhaust suppliers and helmet manufacturers presented their offerings. Not only two-wheeled but also four-wheeled beauties from the USA offered a lot to talk about. So we talked and swished petrol late into the night in the beer tent with food, drinks and strong live music from two bands. On Sunday we were allowed to continue testing and to fortify ourselves, the people of Stuttgart offered a delicious white sausage breakfast.
Of course, Fred Pistor, Gerd Maier and their entire team were available to answer questions about Harley-Davidson on both days. Regardless of whether it was about new, used or rental bikes, the individualization or financing of the machine, trade-ins, TÜV demonstrations or the collection and delivery service - everyone was able to see for themselves the advice and service that has always been for Harley-Davidson Stuttgart stands up.
“The greatest thing for us is when customers keep coming back – year after year,” admits Fred Pistor, and he and Gerd Maier have undoubtedly succeeded in achieving this strong customer loyalty over the past three decades – congratulations, boys!
