600km across the country on the Harley-Davidson Street Glide CVO
On Monday I did a 600km tour from Montabaur to Plön in one go with the Harley-Davidson Street Glide CVO made. Usually more used to the old Evo from the 80s, it's tempting to ride a Harley that is one of the best that the Harley forge in Milwaukee has to offer.
One thing that makes no sense at all is to start replacing an old Evo with a new one. Harley-Davidson Street Glide CVO to compare, while after 400km with the Harley-Davidson Evo I worked really hard physically, you can tell on the Harley-Davidson Street Glide in your bones, as good as nothing from the tour, that's exactly what it's built for!
It's great for cruising on country roads, or like me, you can drive a 600 km route in 8 hours on the highway, I drove 2/3 of it at about 130km/h, which is totally relaxed, cruise control on and cruise.
It can also do the rest more quickly, which it can do well, it pulls powerfully right up to the top, under certain circumstances it can rock up, which will surprise an inexperienced driver, what exactly this has to do with will still have to be found out.
This can be due to the seating position, or the suspension setting, as well as tire pressure, etc. I've only had this happen twice, once was due to a bad lateral joint on the highway and the second time was due to the wind.
With a confident driving style - both on the highway and overland - I recorded a consumption of 5.8 liters per 100 km. The tank has a capacity of 22.7 liters, including a reserve tank of five liters. The system is perfectly tuned so that as soon as the reserve light is activated, the navigation system also kicks in and offers suggestions for the nearest filling stations. This allows you to navigate directly to your preferred petrol station brand, which is conveniently shown directly on the display.
It is not only fun on the highway, it is a real all-rounder, even when moving 400 kilos, the tight turning circle is helpful when maneuvering and it feels just as much at home on country roads.
A great tour with the bike, more info will follow, I will shoot a video soon and go into more detail about the technique.
