THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON ENTHUSIAST MOTORCYCLE COLLECTION
PRESENTS ALMOST JOHNNIE
Fast Johnnie Street Glide – Fast Johnnie Road Glide – Fast Johnnie Low Rider ST
Powerful muscle cars from the 1960s and 1970s inspired the designers to create the look of the strictly limited machines
FRANKFURT (05/02/2023) - With the introduction of the Fast Johnnie paint design, Harley-Davidson celebrates the classic muscle cars and their racing history. In Europe, this styling is the basis for the Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection – strictly limited bikes that feature special paintwork and special graphics. The Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection Fast Johnnie paintwork in Celestial Blue with white race stripes will be offered ex works for three 2023 models: the Low Rider ST , the Street Glide ST and the Road Glide ST , the total production of which is limited to a maximum of 2,000 units worldwide .
The machines in the Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection pay homage to Harley-Davidson riders and are inspired by the stories of petrolheads. Fast Johnnie is a nod to the paint design found on high-performance muscle cars and pony cars of the 1960s and 1970s: contrasting race stripes on a bold base color combined with a special symbol or logo in the graphics. Both elements served to visually clearly differentiate the high-performance version of a car from its standard variant.
The Fast Johnnie symbol on the left side of the fuel tank is also found on the motorcycles of the Harley-Davidson Screamin' Eagle factory team that competes in the MotoAmerica King of the Baggers racing series. It goes back to a piglet named Johnnie, who was adopted in 1920 by Ray Weishaar, racing driver and member of the HD factory racing team called the Wrecking Crew, and made the team mascot. After winning races, Johnnie went on the victory lap with Ray on the tank of a racing machine. Hog, the English name for piglet, was transferred over time to Harley-Davidson motorcycles .
“Race stripes captivated the generation that grew up during this time and continue to captivate today,” said Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson vice president of design and creative director . “The base color chosen for Fast Johnnie, Celestial Blue, is reminiscent of a popular paint color from the muscle car era. For the stripes we chose a white color that also fits the era perfectly and was alternately thin, wide and thin again on the sides and top of the machine - classic American.”
On the tank and front fender, the Harley-Davidson logo replaces one of the thin stripes. Depending on the model, the stripes were applied to the front and rear fenders, on the top and sides of the tank, on the front of the fairing and on the side covers and cases. The Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection logo can be found on the rear fender.
