THE HARLEY-DAVIDSON ENTHUSIAST MOTORCYCLE COLLECTION
PRESENTS FAST JOHNNIE
Fast Johnnie Street Glide โ Fast Johnnie Road Glide โ Fast Johnnie Low Rider ST
Powerful muscle cars from the 1960s and 1970s inspired the designers to create the look of these strictly limited-edition machines.
FRANKFURT (May 2, 2023) โ With the introduction of the Fast Johnnie Paint Designs Harley-Davidson celebrates classic muscle cars and their racing history. In Europe, this styling is the basis for the Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection โ strictly limited edition bikes featuring special paintwork and graphics. The Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection Fast Johnnie paintwork in Celestial Blue with white race stripes will be available ex-factory for three 2023 models: the Low Rider ST, which Street Glide ST and the Road Glide ST, with total production worldwide limited to a maximum of 2,000 units.
The bikes in the Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection pay homage to Harley-Davidson riders and are inspired by the stories of petrolheads. So Almost Johnnie A nod to the paint designs found on powerful muscle cars and pony cars of the 1960s and 1970s: contrasting race stripes on a bold base color combined with a special symbol or logo in the graphics. Both elements served to visually distinguish the high-performance version of a car from its standard variant.
The Fast Johnnie symbol on the left side of the fuel tank can also be found on the motorcycles of the Harley-Davidson Screaminโ Eagle factory team, which competes in the MotoAmerica King of the Baggers racing series. It dates back to a piglet named Johnnie, who was adopted in 1920 by Ray Weishaar, a racer and member of the H-D factory racing team known as the Wrecking Crew, and made the team mascot. After winning races, Johnnie would join Ray on the victory lap on the tank of a race bike. Over time, the English term for piglet, "hog," was transferred to Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
โRace Stripes thrilled the generation that grew up during that time, and they still have a fascinating effect today,โ explains Brad Richards., Harley-Davidson Vice President of Design and Creative Director. โThe base color chosen for Fast Johnnie, Celestial Blue, is reminiscent of a popular paint from the muscle car era. For the stripes, we chose a white shade that also fits perfectly with this era and was applied alternately thin, wide, and thin again on the sides and top of the machineโclassically American.โ
The Harley-Davidson lettering replaces one of the thin stripes on the tank and front fender. Depending on the model, the stripes were applied to the front and rear fenders, the top and sides of the tank, the front of the fairing, and the side covers and saddlebags. The Enthusiast Motorcycle Collection logo can be found on the rear fender.
