The AMB 001 from Aston Martin and Brough Superior
• Aston Martin Design meets Brough Superior Engineering.
Two iconic and historic British performance brands come together strictly limited edition track-only motorcycle
November 5, 2019, Milan, Italy: The AMB 001 from Aston Martin and Brough Superior made its global debut today at EICMA , the Milan motorcycle show .
The unveiling marks the first chapter of an exciting new partnership between Aston Martin and Brough Superior.
Strictly limited to just 100 examples, the AMB 001 is track-only and represents the union of Aston Martin design icon and Brough Superior state-of-the-art engineering to create a piece of automotive art for the motorcycle connoisseur.
Marek Reichman, Executive Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Aston Martin, said: “We believe this is how a cutting-edge motorcycle should be and we are very proud to see the Aston Martin wings on a motorcycle for the first time .
In addition to the skills we developed for cars such as the ground-breaking Aston Martin Valkyrie, we were also able to bring our specialist expertise in traditional craft techniques to this project.
The finished product is a truly beautiful motorcycle; a work of design and engineering art.
With the AMB 001, Aston Martin and Brough Superior present a unique, modern, light and powerful sports motorcycle concept with exclusive technical features, including a chassis configuration with double wishbone front forks and a carbon structure.
The Aston Martin design team was inspired by Aston Martin's new range of mid-engine cars and worked on clear principles of form and function, where design and technology had to work together.
This is how a motorcycle was created that is a high-performance work of art.
The AMB 001 is presented in the traditional Aston Martin Racing colors Stirling Green and Lime Essence with matt black wheels, forks and brakes. The combination of lacquer and bare carbon fiber underlines the lines of this collector's item.
As befits the Aston Martin and Brough Superior brands, all components have been custom designed using the best processes and materials, including carbon fiber, titanium and billet aluminum.
The motorcycle features a strong, sculptural body shape highlighted by a carbon fiber fin, the design of which is derived from the side foreshortening of Aston Martin cars.
It runs the full length from the Stirling Green tank under the saddle and out to the rear to create a flowing shape along the top of the motorcycle. As the fin passes under the saddle, you can see that the Oxford Tan leather pads of the hand-sewn saddle are threaded through.
Ancient techniques and modern technology are combined into one that adapts perfectly to the human form.
AMB 001 was designed to display a level of elegance not normally found on a racing motorcycle. Beauty and power are the order of the day for this pure racing driver.
Aerodynamic wings attached to the fairing at the front of the motorcycle are derived from the S-curve at the front of an Aston Martin and provide aerodynamic downforce.
The AMB 001 has a turbocharged output of 134 kW (180 hp) with a dry weight of just 180 kilograms. This turbo configuration provides incredible engine response with tremendous torque over a wide speed range.
This is also the first time a Brough Superior model has been introduced with a V-twin turbo engine.
In keeping with its track-inspired pedigree, the AMB 001 features ultra-light Aston Martin wings that sit beneath the body paint on the nose and tank. These are the same nine-micron stainless steel wings that adorn the Aston Martin Valkyrie.
“Aston Martin may be 106 years old, but the dynamism of this company is inspiring for all areas of the business, especially design,” Reichman continued.
“The same people who work on the design of our cars also worked on the AMB 001. These people are absolute experts and have delivered many of the special project cars we have designed.
Unlike other car manufacturers, our designers have a full range of experience and I think it shows in this sophisticated motorcycle. “
The AMB 001 is built and hand-assembled at the Brough Superior factory in Toulouse, France. Only 100 copies will be made with an RRP of EUR 108,000.00 including 20% VAT.
Manufactured. The first deliveries are expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2020.
