Call for witnesses after hit-and-run accident on the B9 - motorcyclist seriously injured

Speyer - On Thursday, October 19, 2023, shortly before 6 p.m., there was a traffic accident on the B9, in the direction of Germersheim, between the Rinkenbergerhof junction and the Speyer freeway junction. According to the current state of the investigation, a 24-year-old man from Speyer was driving his motorcycle in the left-hand lane of the B9. At the same time, a red minibus, details of which are currently unknown, was driving in the right-hand lane of the B9.

When the minibus started to overtake, it overlooked the motorcyclist, who was at the same height as the minibus. As a result, the motorcyclist had to swerve out of the way of the vehicle and fell. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries. He was first given medical treatment by the crew of an ambulance and then flown by rescue helicopter to a nearby hospital. As the rescue helicopter had to land on the carriageway, the Germersheim carriageway was closed for around 25 minutes. The motorcycle was damaged to the tune of approx. 3000 euros.
