Attentive witness prevents Harley theft
Cologne (ots) - Late on Friday evening (August 25th), an attentive witness (23) in Ehrenfeld presumably prevented the theft of a Harley-Davidson.
She noticed three strange men (19, 20, 20) in an underground car park and called the police on “110”. Plainclothes officers found the trio “armed” with burglary tools in the courtyard of the apartment building.
At around 11 p.m. the Dutch came out of the garage exit on Simrockstrasse. One of the three had a screwdriver in his hand. On the other two, the officers found two open-end wrenches and a special tool that can be used to pick locks.
There were two motorcycle helmets and a cyclist's suit in the men's VW Golf, which was registered in the Netherlands. A roller gate to the underground car park entrance had obviously been forced upwards; The black motorcycle was in “starting position” behind it.
The investigators assume that the attentive resident probably prevented the Harley from being stolen through her quick actions. One of the 20-year-olds was already under investigation in Düren in 2015 for a similar case. (cs)
