This time the Iron 883™ serves as the basis for the custom projects, which, like countless of its classic ancestors, is reduced to the essentials. It belongs to the Sportster® model family, whose ancestor Harley-Davidson offered in 1957 and which is currently enjoying great popularity customizer The machine was comprehensively updated technically and visually for the 2016 model year. The latest generation is powered by the air-cooled Evolution Sportster V2 engine with a displacement of 883 cubic centimeters. Her current look is inspired by the rugged style of bobbers that originated in backyards and private garages decades ago.
Harley-Davidson counts the Iron 883 as part of its “Dark Custom” line, i.e. those machines that, stripped of all unnecessary parts, convey a contemporary underground feeling in a matte or glossy black vintage look. In March and April 2016, Harley-Davidson will present participating dealers' custom projects to fans in all participating countries on the website. Online voting and a jury decide on the national winners. These will be presented in June at the “Wheels & Waves” festival in Biarritz, where a jury will choose the Custom King of the Year 2016.
