Bergen – Rügen: Traffic accident with two seriously injured persons on the L30 between Zudar and Losentitz (district of Vorpommern-Rügen)
On June 10, 2022, at around 4:45 p.m., a traffic accident occurred between a car and a motorcycle on the L30 between Zudar and Losentitz. The 82-year-old German driver of an Opel car was traveling on the L30 coming from Zudar and wanted to turn left toward Maltzien.
For reasons that are still unclear, she failed to see the oncoming 62-year-old German driver of a Harley-Davidson, resulting in a collision between the two vehicles. Both drivers were seriously injured in the accident, but their injuries are not life-threatening.
The driver of the Opel was taken by ambulance to Sana Hospital in Bergen. The motorcyclist involved in the accident was transported by rescue helicopter to Greifswald Hospital. While the accident was being investigated and the vehicles recovered, the L30 had to be closed completely for approximately two hours and then closed on one side for another two hours.
To clarify the exact cause of the accident, a DEKRA employee was called in on the instructions of the public prosecutor's office. Both vehicles were no longer roadworthy and had to be recovered by a towing company.
The total damage is estimated at approximately €35,000. In addition to the police and emergency services, 10 members of the Zudar and Maltzien volunteer fire departments were also on the scene.
