Bielefeld: A2 temporarily closed after motorcycle accident

FR / Bielefeld / Vlotho-Exter / A2 - A motorcyclist fell on Tuesday afternoon, August 22nd, 2023, in a solo accident on the A2 in the direction of Hanover, between the Herford-Bad Salzuflen and Herford Ost junctions. The driver suffered serious injuries. A backlog of around five kilometers formed.
At around 5:10 p.m., a 53-year-old from Herford was driving a Harley Davidson in the middle lane on the A2 towards Hanover. After overtaking a truck, he moved to the right lane and, for reasons that are still unclear, began to swerve and ultimately lost control of his motorcycle. The 53-year-old fell, slipped on the asphalt and came to rest in the area of the right lane and the shoulder.
The man from Herford suffered serious injuries as a result of the fall. He received emergency medical care on site and was taken to a hospital for further treatment.
There was material damage of around 1,500 euros. During the course of the accident investigation, the A2 in the direction of Hanover was initially completely closed for 15 minutes, after which the left lane was opened. The middle and right lanes remained closed until the end of the operation at 6:50 p.m.
