Call for witnesses after a traffic accident on the B9 – motorcyclist seriously injured

Speyer - On Thursday, October 19th, 2023, shortly before 6 p.m., there was a traffic accident on the B9, in the direction of Germersheim, between the Rinkenbergerhof junction and the Speyer motorway junction. According to the current status of the investigation, a 24-year-old from Speyer was driving his motorcycle in the left lane of the B9. A red minibus, no further details about the vehicle are currently known, was traveling in the right lane of the B9 at the same time.
When the minibus started to overtake, it overlooked the motorcyclist, who was at the height of the minibus. As a result, the motorcyclist had to avoid the vehicle and fell. The motorcyclist suffered serious injuries. He was first given medical care by the crew of an ambulance and then flown to a nearby hospital by rescue helicopter. Since the rescue helicopter had to land on the road, the Germersheim direction was completely closed for around 25 minutes. The motorcycle suffered material damage amounting to approximately 3,000 euros.
