Cardo scala rider® SMARTPACK™: DMC™ communication for smaller groups

The new SMARTPACK™ from Cardo uses the revolutionary DMC™ intercom technology and also offers almost all of the high-end features that characterize the flagship PACKTALK™. With the SMARTPACK, Cardo occupies the upper middle class segment.

Barely six months after Cardo revolutionized the market for communication systems for motorcyclists with the PACKTALK™ and its unique DMC™ technology, Cardo presents a slightly slimmed down version of the top model: the scala rider® SMARTPACK™.
Like the PACKTALK, the new SMARTPACK, which is made entirely in carbon black, combines DMC and Bluetooth® technologies in one device. In contrast to the linear connection with Bluetooth-based intercom, the new DMC technology connects every member of a group with everyone else. In addition, DMC is a self-adapting network: If drivers in the group overtake each other or get out of range, this change in the DMC network is bridged in a fraction of a second and imperceptibly for the participants.

Even if riders who left the group later rejoin, they will automatically be rejoined into the group. With the scala rider flagship PACKTALK, DMC enables communication between up to 15 participants over a terrain-related distance of up to 8 kilometers. With the new scala rider SMARTPACK, these numbers are reduced to 4 participants with a terrain-related range of up to 5 kilometers. Otherwise, the SMARTPACK has almost all the amenities of the PACKTALK.

With the new SMARTPACK, both telephone conversations from the smartphone and voice instructions from the navigation device can be received in the best sound quality via Bluetooth. The SMARTPACK also enables perfect stereo music reception either via the built-in FM radio with RDS or via wireless music streaming from a Bluetooth-enabled mobile device.

Thanks to Music Sharing™, you can even listen to the same music as a couple. When intercom calls are ongoing, the volume of all activated audio sources is automatically reduced. The SMARTPACK also offers automatic volume adjustment to the driving speed and ambient noise, spoken status announcements in several languages, individually storable speed dials and the redirection of intercom connections to a cell phone.

It also has the same practical controls as the PACKTALK, which can even be operated with winter gloves.
So that the driver can use the full range of functions of the SMARTPACK while driving without having to touch the helmet, the most important functions can alternatively be controlled via voice commands. Thanks to the “Remote Control” of the free Cardo SmartSet™ app, most of the SMARTPACK’s functions can also be controlled via a smartphone or tablet with an iOS or Android operating system. The new Cardo scala rider SMARTPACK is available in specialist retailers or in the Cardo online shop for 285.95 euros (RRP) in time for the 2016 season. In a double pack with two control units already paired, it will cost 499.95 euros (RRP) as the Cardo SMARTPACK DUO.
