Pursuit ends in front of a barrier

SI / Bielefeld / Herford / Lippe / Bad Salzuflen - A 32-year-old motorcyclist has to answer for illegal motor vehicle racing after he tried to evade a police check on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

At around 10:20 a.m., highway patrol officers intended to check a group of motorcyclists on the A2 in the direction of Hanover. They told the riders to follow them to the „Herford Süd“ parking lot. While six motorcyclists complied with the request, one decided to flee.

The police officers followed the Harley rider to the Vlotho West highway exit, where the 32-year-old overtook three trucks despite a solid line. On Detmolder Straße in the direction of Exter, the motorcyclist drove at a clearly excessive speed and overtook again in the no overtaking zone.

In Bad Salzuflen, the Harley rider disregarded two red traffic lights, on Biemser Straße he was caught by a speed measuring device and displayed grossly illegal and reckless driving behavior both in and out of town.

In the town of Ahmsen, he continued his journey on Lockhauser Straße, which leads through a sharp right-hand bend. After failing to brake, however, the 32-year-old was forced to swerve into a parking lot on Grüne Straße, where his escape ended in front of a barrier.

The police confiscated both the Harley and the driver's license. A preliminary drug test was negative.

The officers also initiated criminal proceedings for illegal motor vehicle racing.

During the chase, the other motorcyclists were easily checked by the highway police.
