WHY I SHOULD NOT BE RIDING MY MOTORCYCLE RIGHT NOW!
The weather was beautiful across much of the country over the weekend, and naturally, the thought of finally taking the bike out for a few laps again comes to mind. If it weren't for this situation with the Coronavirus If that were the case, one could certainly consider it.
The greatest danger for motorcyclists always occurs in spring, when car drivers are not yet accustomed to bikers and motorcyclists are riding their first kilometers of the year and need to break in both themselves and their machines.
Group photos are not recommended at this time!
As could be seen on social media, some bikers were out riding in groups and celebrating with group photos and „Fuck Corona“ slogans. We'll see who's fucking who in a few weeks' time, but in the current situation, it's not advisable to take the virus lightly. A glance at Italy is certainly enough to see what can still happen.
Spared myself, but passed it on!
It may not be about the bikers themselves, but we should do everything we can to avoid spreading the virus, even if we may not even realize that we have spread it. And no one knows today whether all this will happen, and that's exactly the point: no one knows!
Nevertheless, do not panic! That wouldn't help anyone right now, but we don't need to encourage the spread of the virus, which is highly contagious and particularly dangerous for older people.
Anyone can be a carrier!
That would be the case even with normal flu, but normal flu is not as extremely contagious, and ultimately we can only hope that the virus does not mutate further.
Not a good time for an accident!
There's no need to go out now!
The next aspect is, who wants to end up in the hospital right now? Sure, you can fall off a ladder at home, or whatever, but on the weekend, it's in —> Wermelskirchen One of them skidded off the road with his Harley in a left-hand bend—these things happen. In this case, his passenger was injured and ended up in hospital. We wish her a speedy recovery, by the way.
Nobody needs that right now, especially hospitals don't need any accident patients. The staff there already have more than enough to deal with!
In –> Nehren Yesterday, a cyclist was also seriously injured when a car failed to give way. It was impossible to avoid the collision, and he suffered a serious leg injury. We wish him a speedy recovery!
Sure, that can always happen, but timing is crucial. It could have been avoided. Being admitted to hospital with a serious injury is very bad under these circumstances.
JUST LEAVE THE GOAT ALONE!
Maybe just polish your bike if you need to feel connected to your Harley, or tinker around with it. You can still order parts from most Harley shops, so you'll surely think of something to do, but please stay home with your bikes for now, even if it's hard!

A few words to Andi from March 17 with his „nice“ comment:
Your descriptions show me that you've obviously fallen off your motorcycle a few times and always landed right on your head!
Apparently, you haven't yet understood the seriousness of the situation. We have never had a situation like this here or anywhere else in the world. And the worst thing about it is that there is no end in sight. This stupid virus seems to be circling the entire globe, because no country and no person is safe from it, not even a „tough Harley rider“ like you. I'm not only a motorcycle rider, but also an employee of a government agency that has been calling hundreds of people infected with coronavirus and their contacts every day for several weeks to ask about their current symptoms. That's part of my job right now. And it's damn stupid when you hear the person on the other end of the line burst into tears because their husband, wife, father, mother, daughter, or son had to be admitted to the hospital overnight and is now on a ventilator. Your attitude in the current situation is simply stupid and really does not help to improve the overall situation in any significant way; it is simply selfish. Furthermore, it does not help to improve the public image of bikers.
Sorry Harley, I'm not a fan of your brand and you're currently struggling, but I think your article and your attitude towards this situation, which is terrible for all of us, is simply great and absolutely right. That needs to be said.
I hope for all bikers that we will soon be able to get back on our bikes without feeling guilty and enjoy our hobby again. Always sit upright, always come home safely, and above all—stay healthy.
Hello, anyone who thinks this will all be over in 2-3 weeks, I can only laugh. Look at it for what it really is. People, it's going to get worse. Very few are staying at home with their children; no, they're continuing to go to work and leaving their children with grandma and grandpa, even though that's the wrong thing to do. Going to work is more important to them than their children, grandma, and grandpa. As always, everyone is looking out for themselves, and you're still wondering whether to drive or not. IT'S ALL GOING TO GET WORSE.
How am I supposed to get to work now? The „social hose“ as the McDonald's of microbes?
And always keep your finger in the anus Viruses can also be transmitted through farting
When I get on my moped, go for a ride, and then come back home, I have just as much virus on me as before, and no more.
If, like many others at the moment, I rush to the nearest DIY store and then, as a layman—because I have time—want to spruce up my cabin and end up dropping the Hilti drill or falling off the 3.50 m ladder, I will also have a serious injury.
No, I think it's simply that the idea of (driving) „freedom“ doesn't fit in with the current coronavirus situation psychologically, and so we are preemptively imposing our own curfew in our minds.
In any case, I will consciously get on my Harley and ride.
True words!
I couldn't agree more. My wife and I wear helmets and protective clothing when we go for a ride and have no contact with other moped riders/people (except at traffic lights or when refueling). .
Keep your helmet on and maintain your distance as a precaution.
There are no groups anyway, as many people don't travel by car or moped.
And those who drive sensibly and with foresight have the chance of arriving home safely. The motto is safety first.
Greetings
Harry's Bike
I've never read such nonsense. When I ride my motorcycle alone through the countryside and enjoy the fresh air, it's actually better for my health than sitting at home. I don't have to go on group rides. And I have to fill up my car with gas too. We must do everything we can to slow down the wave of infection, but stopping riding motorcycles is certainly not helpful, and spreading panic or nonsense, as this article does, is not helpful either. Politicians are acting calmly and decisively, but the media are trying to scare people! I will continue to ride because I ride sensibly and am not in the high-risk group among moped riders.
I hope you get grounded. You just don't think things through. And you don't care about other people.
Okay, then I'll leave my moped at home today and take my bike instead. Better safe than sorry.
I totally agree👍👍
Folks: the emperor has no clothes!
Completely excessive measures considering the small number of cases. Coronaviruses are present in all annual outbreaks of the group. In similar cases in recent years, did anyone consider that it was possible that civil rights could be restricted so drastically?
Here, hype is fueled by excited media and social media. Who benefits from this in the end?
Okay, the emperor, but that's not the point. The real danger is not that the virus will kill us all, but what it triggers. Most people will survive it, or hopefully not even get it or notice it. But the people who will notice it are the ones who keep good old Germany running. If the middle class collapses, we'll have real problems. Not everyone is in a position to just keep everything running without having the necessary income. And if the spread of the virus is not stopped, the state will completely slow us down. Then it will be over with the behavioral guidelines and obligations will come into force. Just keep your feet still for two or three weeks and the situation will ease again.
The article hits the nail on the head: take the virus very seriously without panicking, and avoid unnecessary risks of injury at this time, because nobody needs to go to hospital right now, and hospitals don't need any more patients. Great article!
