The Daytona Bike Week 2020 in Florida / USA

Daytona Bike Week recently came to an end in Florida. It is one of the biggest Harley-Davidson events in the world. It attracts bikers from all corners of the world. Among the Harley-Davidson city events, the Hamburg Harley Days are at the forefront. Under normal circumstances, Daytona Bike Week offers one of the best opportunities to conquer the country on a Harley-Davidson in combination with a trip to the USA. Those who can fulfill this dream will talk about this experience for a long time.

The coronavirus stops the fun!

Unfortunately, the coronavirus has caused some problems. Planned tours were stopped early because it was no longer clear whether the return flights would work out, and those where everything went according to plan were canceled because Trump issued a 30-day entry ban from Europe.

As a result, many were stuck in the States for the time being and had to see how they could get home. If no plane arrives from Europe, it's hard to get one to pick you up. That's exactly what happened to my buddy Bakerman, but fortunately he still arrived home a little late and via detours and still had a few photos from Daytona Bike Week in his luggage for us.

The Daytona Bike Week is dominated by Harleys!

Although Daytona Bike Week is open to brands, it is traditionally dominated by Harley-Davidson fans. It's almost unbelievable what kind of bikes Americans are allowed to ride on the road, especially in Florida, where freedom is writ large. Loud exhausts, riding without a helmet, do what you want, it's your own responsibility.

Daytona Beach is located in the east of Florida on the Atlantic coast, where the legendary Speedway and 500 Nascar races take place. You are allowed to drive a car or ride a motorcycle on some sections of the beach. I think that says enough about the freedoms enjoyed in Florida.

I can recommend the Daytona Bike Week to anyone who wants to realize their US dream, but it's worth it.

The Mainstreet in Daytona

The event is centered on the Main Street in Daytona! This is where it all happens, bikers ride up and down here around the clock, you can easily spend hours here. The world-famous Bike Show takes place on Fridays at the Beach Pier. It has lost some of its luster over the years, but it's still worth a visit.

The Rats Hole Bike Show has been relegated to the „distant future“, it's better to go to the Iron Horse, or one of the biggest Harley dealers in the world. Bruce Rossmeyer is awesome, and there's lots of extra entertainment in front of the store during Bike Week.

I have already seen the famous Harley-Davidson painters there. Scott Jacobs and David Uhl In the USA they are stars, here in Europe we only have a thing for Picasso, while in the USA a print of the original brings in thousands of euros, here in Germany the two artists would rather starve to death. David Uhl was at the 2019 European Bike Week at Lake Faak, with his art exhibition at the Expo tent from Harley-Davidson to see.

The beautiful surroundings in Florida

The surroundings of Daytona are unique, especially in March it is not too warm and it rarely rains. During Bike Week it is difficult to rent a Harley-Davidson, the biggest rental company is Eagle Rider. The easiest way will be to combine the experience with a tour offer from Eagle Rider if you want to ride a Harley-Davidson. In any case, you should at least rent a car, if you want to see everything around the Bike Week, you should be mobile.

The routes along the Atlantic coast are particularly beautiful, the wind blows around your nose and you can see Harleys cruising everywhere. If you have the time, you should ride further down via Palm Beach and Fort Lauderdale towards Miami, these impressions will stay with you for a long time.

The next Daytona Bike Week will take place from March 5 to 14, 2020.
