They actually did it, the topic had been under discussion for a long time, the Harley-Davidson wanted to launch its own Harley-Davidson online store in Germany. E-commerce is a big topic these days and in the USA they have been at it for a while. In the United States, Harley-Davidson has entered into a cooperation with Amazon to offer the entire MotorClothes and merchandise product range with the US online giant.

The fact that Harley-Davidson is setting up an online store is one piece of news, but the real news is that Harley-Davidson is now addressing the end consumer directly and bypassing its authorized dealers. In Germany almost a third of authorized dealers have their own online store. Last year and this year in particular, some new ones have been added. The online business is changing the market, because every Harley-Davidson authorized dealer his own district for which he is responsible.
The dealer Harley-Davidson online trade and the online offering of new motorcycles has already caused discussions among dealers over the years. Those without a store were at a disadvantage and those with a store sold their goods in the territories of their colleagues. In the case of motorcycles, people have rowed back and some have only offered their new demonstrators online. A difficult situation for everyone involved, because setting up and maintaining a store system is costly and labor-intensive, which is not worthwhile for very few dealers whose core business is actually sales, the workshop and, of course, direct contact with the customer. But today's customers demand an online offer.

Harley-Davidson bietet ab 50,-€ den kostenlosen Versand und die kostenlose Rückgabe an. Das Ziel ist sicherlich schnell erreicht, mit Kleingeld hat man in diesem Bereich noch nie viel erreicht. Das Angebot bezieht sich auf die MotorClothes Kollektion und es werden sämtliche Parts für die Harley-Davidson Modelle angeboten, die Parts können aber weiterhin nur beim H-D Dealer gekauft werden. Eins ist direkt aufgefallen, die Artikel der MotorClothes Kollektion sind oft nicht in allen Größen vorhanden. Auf den ersten Blick ist er auffällig gut und ohne Übersetzungsfehler. Die Beschreibungen der Artikel sind ausführlich und alle mit umfangreichen Bildmaterial bestückt. Sie scheinen es wirklich ernst zu meinen, bei dem enormen Aufwand, der betrieben wird. Wie lange der Versand dauern wird und ob die Abwicklung funktioniert, werden wir mal abchecken.
Ob die Kunden wechseln werden, wird man sehen, der typisch deutsche Kunde ist ja eher treu und über den Preis wird nichts laufen, aber eins ist wohl klar, für die Vertragshändler wird die Luft jetzt, gerade in diesen schweren Zeiten etwas dünner, wenn Harley-Davidson selbst, mit den Möglichkeiten die sie haben, direkt in den Markt einsteigt.
