Product portfolio and the new FXDR 114
Although the Softail models feature the aesthetic design of rigid frames that characterized many motorcycles up to the mid-1950s, they offer a modern vehicle concept
and the comfort of a chassis that is also suspended at the rear.
The model family is rich in elegant shapes and striking characters: The portfolio ranges from sleek chopper style to
from the powerful cruiser look to the stylish touring design.
Viewed from the side, a Softail looks like a motorcycle without rear suspension.
In fact, however, the Softail frame has a central suspension strut under the seat that is hidden from view and ensures modern suspension comfort that is completely in tune with the times.
The model-specific 16, 18, 19 or 21-inch front wheels are guided by a telescopic fork that works with Showa Dual Bending Valve technology.
The Sport Glide, the Fat Bob models and the new FXDR 114 feature an upside-down telescopic fork.

Depending on the model, the Softail models are powered by air-cooled Milwaukee-Eight Big Twins with a displacement of 1745 cm3 (107 cui; up to 64 kW (87 hp) and up to 145 Nm) or 1868 cm3 (114 cui; up to 69 kW (94 hp) and up to 160 Nm), which are rigidly connected to the frame.
They have dual ignition, two balancer shafts to dampen their vibrations, four valves per cylinder
(ohv), an oil-cooled exhaust system and an electronic throttle control that makes Bowden cables superfluous.

Cruise Drive six-speed gearbox
A smooth-running, mechanically actuated oil bath clutch provides the power connection to the transmission. The gearbox is the Cruise Drive six-speed gearbox, which ensures powerful traction in the lower gears and relaxed gliding at low revs in top gear. The power is transferred to the 16 or 18-inch rear wheel, depending on the model, via a robust, carbon fiber-reinforced secondary toothed belt.

With anti-lock braking system as standard
The brake systems on all Softail models benefit from the standard anti-lock braking system, which is discreetly integrated into the look of the machines. Two brake discs (Fat Bob models and FXDR 114: three brake discs) are used as standard.
Depending on the model, the rider's feet rest on centrally mounted or forward-mounted footrests or on footboards.
Standard security system with immobilizer, alarm system and keyless ignition system
Every Softail is equipped as standard with the Security System with an immobilizer and an alarm system that are automatically activated and deactivated when the rider moves away from or approaches the motorcycle. Thanks to the keyless ignition system, no ignition key is required to start the engine. Instead, all you need to do is press the starter button.

LED headlights and USB port
All Softail models have particularly bright LED headlights and a practical USB port for charging mobile devices.
The Softail family for the 2019 model year includes the Street Bob (FXBB), Low Rider (FXLR), Sport Glide (FLSB), Fat Bob (FXFB), Softail Slim (FLSL), Deluxe (FLDE), Breakout (FXBR), Fat Boy (FLFB) and Heritage Classic (FLHC) models equipped with a 1745 cm3 Milwaukee-Eight V-Twin.

Some models are also available with the particularly powerful 1868 cm3 Milwaukee-Eight. These are the Fat Bob 114 (FXFBS), Breakout 114 (FXBRS), Fat Boy 114 (FLFBS) and Heritage Classic 114 (FLHCS) models.
Also powered by the 114 cui engine is the new FXDR 114 (FXDRS), a weight-optimized and particularly powerfully styled power cruiser with the striking look of dragster bikes.

Softail series
Ten-disc oil bath clutch
In the previous year, only the machines equipped with Milwaukee-Eight 114 had a ten-disc oil bath clutch, while models with Milwaukee-Eight 107 were equipped with a nine-disc oil bath clutch. In future, all Softail models will have the ten-disc version, which can transmit particularly high torques.

Alternator
A new, even more powerful 48 A three-phase alternator replaces the previously used component and provides even more safety when connecting additional electrical consumers.

Primary housing cover
The 2019 model year Softail models feature a slimmer primary housing cover that increases legroom on the left-hand side of the vehicle, making it even easier for shorter riders to reach the ground with both feet.
