Rüsselsheim, May 2023 - Dodge's "Last Call" tribute to the HEMI models Charger and Challenger, which will no longer be produced in their current version from 2024 as part of the brand's electrification strategy, is now also making its way to Europe . To celebrate these historic series in the final months of their existence, the American brand is launching modified versions of seven icons. Fans have the unique opportunity to purchase an absolutely exclusive product. Five of these very special “Last Call” editions are also offered in Europe.
“There are so many legendary muscle cars in the history of the Dodge brand that it was difficult for us to select the seven models that we wanted to pay tribute to with our “Last Call” lineup. But the Black Ghost was an easy choice,” said Tim Kuniskis, Dodge brand chief executive officer.
The Dodge Challenger Black Ghost is now also landing in Europe
Godfrey Qualls was a motorcycle cop in Detroit, Michigan - and was passionate about illegal street racing. He gave this obviously problematic double life an almost mystical dimension with his modified Dodge Challenger R/T SE Black Ghost from 1970, because he repeatedly showed up in street races, drove the competition into the ground, and then immediately disappeared again disappear.
As a tribute to this legendary muscle car, the Dodge Challenger Black Ghost was among the first six “Last Call” Edition models unveiled in August 2022 during Dodge Speed Week at the M1 Concourse in Pontiac, Michigan. The 2023 Dodge Challenger Black Ghost special edition is a modern revival of the historic 1970 vehicle. It wraps a Challenger SRT ® Hellcat Redeye Widebody, which has been upgraded to 602 kW (807 hp), in a jet black look with black chrome trim and black alligator skin “Vinyl graphics on the roof similar to the original.
Also inspired by the legendary original are the 20 x 11-inch Satin Carbon Warp Speed wheels, Black Ghost badge on the instrument panel, black Mopar ® hood pins and black six-piston Brembo brake calipers. The Black Ghost also features a grille with Challenger lettering, fender and spoiler badges and an SRT grille badge in midnight chrome.
The model is also adorned with details such as the bright Dodge lettering on the dashboard, the Alcantara steering wheel with red SRT logo, real carbon fiber accents and the Dynamica suede headliner as well as Alcantara/Laguna leather seat and door covers. With this vehicle, fans can experience the true exclusivity of Dodge: Only 300 examples will go into production, all Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody in pitch black exterior color.
The Dodge “Last Call” special series – the final race of the HEMI Dodge Charger and Challenger
The exclusive “Last Call” edition consists of seven revived iconic models from the brand’s history: Dodge Challenger Shakedown, Charger Super Bee, Challenger and Charger Scat Pack Swinger, Charger King Daytona, Challenger Black Ghost and Challenger SRT Demon 170.
All 2023 model year vehicles are inspired by the brand's iconic muscle cars, adopting their key details and are marked with a "Last Call" badge under the hood, making each model a true collector's item and displaying the name and silhouette of the vehicle, as well as “Designed in Auburn Hills” and “Assembled in Brampton” to confirm the origin of each vehicle.
The two series each include 14 exterior colors, including three of the brand's signature heritage colors - B5 blue, Plum Crazy purple and Sublime green - as well as the popular, modern Destroyer gray. The vehicles were also refined with striking graphic details on the body.
To celebrate this special edition in true Dodge style, the brand has also expanded the Jailbreak package to the 535 kW (717 hp) Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat, giving fans virtually unlimited customization options when building their own muscle car offer, with unique personalization of every single detail.
