Dream Machines Magazine is back!
Who would have thought, they did it after all and so it happens that we can hold the first Dream Machines issue 01/2021 in our hands in December.
Before we get into everything else, let's briefly explain how you get them!
You can subscribe online on the Dream Machines website and receive them as soon as they appear! If you buy now, you will receive the Dream Machines 6 times in Germany from the second edition onwards for €44 via post and delivered to your letterbox. Shipping is free! Shipping to Austria, Switzerland and other countries is also possible.
If you're afraid of a subscription, you can order it from the Dream Machines online kiosk for €7.90 and get it sent to you free of charge. However, the better support would be the subscription, so calculable figures develop for the young company.
Custombike Magazine is also back in the race
This also applies to Custombike Magazine , because after a tough fight both of them now belong to the new publisher GARAGE 21 .
The collapse of the Huber publishing house resounded through the scene like a clap of thunder. The custom bike show at the motorcycle fair in Bad Salzuflen was also drawn into the maelstrom. It was probably the most lucrative business in the publishing industry and certainly had the easiest time being pulled out of the bankruptcy estate.
The Custombike Show is hoping for 2021
In any case, the Custombike Show motorcycle fair has been saved and will probably take place again in 2021. The new owner of the motorcycle fair is Messe Ostwestfalen GmbH. Economically, we certainly don't have to worry about the custom bike show , the company is well positioned and its execution is currently only being disrupted by Covid-19.
Need for clarification in the editorial of the first edition
In the editorial of the new Dream Machines, the editor-in-chief, whom I greatly admire, Dr. Heinrich Christmann addresses this whole topic. It clearly shows where their current problems lie and the biggest problem is that they are not allowed to take over the original subscribers! Worse still, they aren't even allowed to contact you, so you have to react yourself so that you automatically receive your Dream Machines in the mail again.
The magazine is also available in small quantities at kiosks or gas stations. This type of marketing is not particularly lucrative for a magazine; you pay commissions and have to deal with returns, which are copies that have not been sold in retail stores. With a subscription you help them more, with every magazine sold helping in the end.
And why is it all on the Harley site now? As an online medium, isn't it in competition with traditional magazines?
This is actually easy to explain; enthusiasm and passion drive many of us. You have known some colleagues for years and of course meet at events and bike presentations. There you exchange ideas and are more happy to talk to like-minded colleagues about the latest developments in the motorcycle world.
It's basically just a small scene and of course everyone wants to be the good guy in their profession, but when you see your colleagues, after decades of work, left with nothing from one day to the next, you are shocked. They simply don't deserve that and if they now want to make the best of this situation and stick with it driven by their passion, of course we support each other.
Not just out of solidarity, no, they also do a good job and some reports of new custom bikes are somehow more intense in a magazine and one doesn't exclude the other. Dream Machines in particular is a good magazine where the annual subscription is definitely worth it! Magazines have a harder time these days, but those who are open to new things definitely have a chance of asserting themselves on the market. There are certainly very successful examples in other areas.
In any case, all fingers are crossed for success!
