Driving bans in Tyrol – statement and all-clear from KessTech
From June 10, 2020 until October 31, 2020, “motorcycle noise driving bans” Tyrol . These only apply to motorcycles that have 95dB(A) Since the ban was announced, we have received repeated inquiries about what this means for motorcyclists with KessTech systems. To all KessTech drivers who were worried that they would no longer be able to drive to Tyrol: Here comes the all-clear!
Since the 95dB(A) in Tyrol refers to the sound pressure level when measuring stationary noise, which is noted in the vehicle documents or on the vehicle's nameplate, there is no connection to the KessTech systems, but only to the OEM value . Even customers who have registered our systems always only have the OEM value in their documents. As long as the registered values of the original vehicle are not higher than 95dB(A), there should be no problems here.
For the following vehicles, the OEM stationary noise level is above 95dB(A), but lower when using a KessTech system : Harley-Davidson FXDRS , Indian Motorcycle with TS111 and 62.2 KW as well as with TS116. We are now adding our homologated stationary noise level to our EU type approval cards for the models in question.
If you already have such a system, we can issue you a new EU type approval card. Please send us a photo of your current EU type approval card and your registration certificate as well as your address to contact@kesstech.de . The EU type approval card has no legal relevance. However, it serves to support you during checks and shows your counterpart that with the KessTech system there is at least no technical reason to prevent you from continuing your journey.
By the way, with the flap closed, KessTech drivers are always quieter than with the OEM! So you can – whether in Tyrol or not – have fun driving and be considerate of your environment!
