Dunlop delivers 10 millionth original equipment tire to Harley-Davidson
- Harley-Davidson together for over 30 years
- In 1983, Dunlop became the sole tire manufacturer for the Harley-Davidson FL series
- Dunlop American Elite became the favorite tire among Harley riders
Dunlop has delivered the 10 millionth original equipment tire to Harley-Davidson, celebrating a milestone in the company's history. For over 30 years, Dunlop engineers have worked closely with the iconic American brand to develop tires that meet the motorcycle manufacturer's strict performance requirements.
With the introduction of the GT502 for the latest Harley-Davidson XL1200 CX Roadster, Dunlop has now deepened a partnership that began in 1981. At that time, Dunlop tires were approved for the Harley-Davidson Sportster , and two years later Dunlop became the sole tire manufacturer for the FL series. Since then, Dunlop has repeatedly developed specific tires for cult Harley-Davidson bikes and has also brought tires such as the American Elite onto the market for the aftermarket business.
Its high mileage made it the ideal choice for long-distance tours. He became the favorite of Harley-Davidson riders. Dunlop achieves the long durability of the tire through its Multi-Tread technology with a more resistant rubber compound in the center of the tread and a softer rubber compound for the sidewalls, which optimize handling and grip in lean positions.
Harley-Davidson recently released the Dunlop GT502 for the new XL1200 CX Roadster. Both front and rear wheel dimensions feature a radial construction that minimizes dynamic tire growth and harmonizes perfectly with the bike's sporty chassis and optimized braking system.
Andy Marfleet, Marketing Manager, Dunlop Motorcycle EMEA comments: “Harley-Davidson sets exacting standards for its suppliers and we are proud of our partnership, which has spanned over 30 years. The 10 millionth Dunlop original equipment tire for Harley-Davidson is an important milestone. Our focus now is on developing innovative new products for the upcoming new Harley-Davidson models.”
