Hanau, November 2015 - Developing a new motorcycle tire that more than significantly outperforms its predecessor in all respects is a truly Herculean task given the current state of tire technology. It is therefore
not surprising that the new RoadSmart III underwent the most extensive development and testing program in the history of Dunlop Europe: It lasted over 31 months and 1.2
million test kilometers were completed. Like the 2015 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy winning tire, the RoadSmart III was designed and developed at the Dunlop European Innovation Center.
The focus of the new RoadSmart III is clearly on motorcyclists in Europe. Dunlop would like to offer you a sports touring tire with outstanding performance. “In order to achieve this goal,” explains David Steinmetz,
Dunlop sales manager for motorcycle tires for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, “more than 200 rubber compounds and constructions were put to the test as part of the development program. New materials were tested as well as countless tread designs until the final tire specifications were determined.”
For the first time on a Dunlop motorcycle tire, iGT technology (Interconnecting Groove Tread) is used in the tread design. The striking tread design of the new RoadSmart III, like its rubber compound, is primarily designed for outstanding grip, especially in wet conditions, excellent mileage and even wear over the tire's entire lifespan.
Dunlop will launch the new RoadSmart III sport touring tire in January 2016. It will be available in 18 dimensions and specifications for a wide range of bikes, from large touring motorcycles to the latest mid-range two-cylinder machines.
