Biking highlight on the Ring of Kerry - The Ireland Bikefest 2025 in Killarney

The „Ireland Bikefest“ in Killarney takes place from May 30 to June 1, 2025 on the picturesque south-west coast of Ireland. Set against the impressive backdrop of Killarney National Park and not far from the legendary Ring of Kerry, the event is not only a highlight for motorcycle fans, but also offers ideal conditions for experiencing the region's breathtaking scenery. Whether on winding roads or relaxed rides through the countryside, Bikefest is the perfect occasion to enjoy Ireland's beauty on two wheels.

The Ireland Bikefest Killarny, belongs to the somewhat unusual Harley-Davidson meeting. You can't go much further west on a Harley in Europe. Only the coast of Portugal, where I once rode the Heritage, tops it. The biggest difference will be that the climate in Ireland is somewhat harsher than in the south. It all depends on the weather, or rather the clothing, at least that was my experience on my tours through Norway.

There are certainly parallels between these two countries. If the weather is reasonably good here, you are traveling in an indescribably beautiful area. The west coast of Ireland in particular offers great roads along the Atlantic.

But the greatest experience is probably the tours led by the three H.O.G. chapters - Celtic Thunder Chapter, Waterford Gaelic Chapter, Dublin Belfast Chapter, Northern Ireland. The roads directly along the Atlantic are what should appeal to you. Lots of nature for the eyes and soul, fresh sea air for the nose and health. For BikeFest there are five rides that have already been worked out, you can check them out here. here view.

What to expect at the BikeFest

The BikeFest Killarny is a real Harley-Davidson event

You might not really believe it, but on the west coast of Ireland they are organizing a Harley meeting with all the trimmings. Live music, stage, exhibitors and guided rides. It all depends on the weather, but somehow it all seems to work out. Anyway, the BikeFest in Ireland is at the top of my RoadMap, I find the surrounding area and the people and their culture very interesting.

Getting to the BikeFest in Killarny Ireland

The tour via Dublin

Ireland is known to be an island and there are two direct routes from London to choose from. The first and longest route is via London, Manchester to Birmingham. After Liverpool comes this extraordinary route called the „Great Orme“, which you can discover on the north coast of Wales, the short flying visit could be worthwhile.

Take the ferry from Birmingham to Dublin and continue via Limerick to Killarny. This is a distance of just over 900 kilometers. There are some very interesting places to visit along the way. The route from Dublin to Limerick is a highway, so if you have time, you can certainly do this route better.

The southern route to Killarny

Google throws up approx. 770 kilometers for the route from London to Killarny via Swansea. Wales in particular is very scenic. There are old castles, palaces and museums to visit along the way. On this route you take the ferry from Goodwick to Rosslare. From the port in Rosslare, there are still around 260 kilometers of country road, for which you should allow a good 4 hours.

Killarney, a beautiful town on the shores of Lough Leane, has a distinctive charm and rich cultural heritage. Nestled in the spectacular scenery of the famous Ring of Kerry, it impresses with its picturesque surroundings and a multitude of fascinating sights.

Two days in Killarney offer plenty of time to experience the highlights of the region. Killarney National Park, an impressive natural paradise with 10,000 hectares of lakes, dense forests and majestic mountains, is an absolute must. Equally worthwhile is a ride along the famous Ring of Kerry - a breathtaking motorcycle route that showcases the rugged beauty of the Iveragh Peninsula. Both destinations invite you to experience the diversity of Irish nature and culture up close.

For motorcyclists, it is advisable to travel the Ring of Kerry in a clockwise direction. This avoids the traffic of coaches, which usually travel in an anti-clockwise direction. This not only makes for a more relaxed ride, but also an even more intense experience of the impressive landscape.

Killorglin is definitely worth a visit! The charming town is the gateway to the famous Ring of Kerry, one of Ireland's most beautiful panoramic routes. This is the starting point for the impressive tour around the Iveragh Peninsula, which passes through picturesque villages such as Glenbeigh, Cahirsiveen, Waterville, Sneem, Kenmare and Killarney. My tip: Spend some time in Killorglin itself - the town is known for its friendly atmosphere, traditional pubs and the annual Puck Fair festival. A perfect starting point to discover the beauty of the region!
