Prague Harley Days 2024

This year the Prague Harley Days will be held for the tenth time. A beautiful city welcomes the Harley bikers. The capital of the Czech Republic has around 1.2 million inhabitants and the Prague Harley Days take place in the city, an extensive program awaits you.

The city and the surrounding area offer bikers a lot; it is definitely worth staying a few days longer. They celebrate a week before European Bike Week , you either have to decide or just keep going afterwards! For many people, the European Bike has now become a thing of the past and I am generally receiving more and more inquiries about the Prague Harley Days.

Prague is a great city, there are many hotspots and plenty of accommodation that you can book through the well-known portals.

Prague Harley Days 2024: An American celebration for bike enthusiasts

The event itself takes place on a very large area. A great bike show and generally lots of cool bikes can be seen there. You are welcome to have been there, I was there in 2022 and 2023 and can definitely recommend the event, at least to have experienced it once and in combination with the beautiful city, you can have a nice weekend here. In 2023 they have the motto “American Fest”, which will mean they will have plenty of American food stalls. I noticed this last year, there are a lot of burger stands at the event, you won't die of thirst and starve at the Prague Harley Days, and this year too. But it feels like it's developing more into a burger event than a Harley event.

Prague Harley Days Parade

The parade is one of the highlights of the event, which will see hundreds of Harley-Davidson motorcycles parade through the streets of Prague. The route of the 2023 parade leads through the middle of the impressive city of Prague.

Demo rides and exhibitions

The 120th anniversary of Harley-Davidson is also being celebrated in Prague. demo truck will also be on site and you can take free test rides. You should register for the planned demo trips; the tours take place at the following times: Fri. + Sat. + Sun. 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

There is a Veteran Mania & Sportster exhibit open Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Sat. from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sun. from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Exhibitions and corresponding presentations can be done in the Czech Republic, sometimes they are a bit bizarre, but often very impressive.

The bike show is right in the middle

The bike show is in the middle of Main Street between the exhibitors, you can't miss the most beautiful of the beautiful here. As is often the case, it's really special about Harley-Davidson. If you drive across the border somewhere, you'll see new bikes and styles again. Here they like to drive old school, but sometimes you can see real extreme conversions that they are apparently still allowed to drive here. In the Czech Republic things are still the same as they used to be, here not everyone in town gets upset about the sound of a Harley.

Riding a Harley in Prague and the surrounding area

Prague is a beautiful city with a rich history and impressive architecture. Many streets, especially in the old town, are cobbled, which is not always ideal for motorcyclists. If someone isn't that experienced, I would still say they can get through it. Although it's a city of millions, I didn't get the impression last year that people here were aggressive or stressed. You may not need to drive down every side street if you haven't been driving for that long. But the city is worth visiting; beautiful old buildings characterize the city.

The area surrounding Prague offers many picturesque places and viewpoints that can be easily reached by motorbike. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Karlštejn : This impressive castle is located about 30 km southwest of Prague and is a popular day trip destination. From here you have a great view of the castle and the surrounding landscape.
  2. Český Kras (Bohemian Karst) : Located southwest of Prague, this region offers a combination of deep forests, caves and gorges that are great for photography.
  3. Sázava Monastery : Located about 40 km southeast of Prague, this monastery offers scenic views of the Sázava River.
  4. Mělník : This charming town is located where the Vltava and Labe rivers converge. It offers beautiful panoramas, especially from Mělník Castle.
  5. Okor Ruins : The ruins of Okor Castle are just a short drive from Prague and provide an impressive backdrop.
  6. Konopiště Castle : Located about 50 km south of Prague, this castle is surrounded by extensive gardens and a large lake, providing plenty of photo opportunities.
  7. Ripa : A small hill on the right bank of the Vltava, north of Prague. From here you have a great view of the river landscape.

Conclusion

The Prague Harley Days are one of the largest Harley-Davidson events in Europe. The metropolis can cope with a larger number of visitors without hotel prices skyrocketing. It's no longer cheap in Prague, but compared to the prices here, it's still okay. The authorities are relaxed, I had a key experience here last year, when there was a traffic jam at the intersection coming from the event on a very hot Saturday, the police showed up without further ado and controlled the traffic.

Checks are more intended to prevent theft; they often take out small vans in particular, but I don't know of anything else that's noticeable. It will be like this, as long as you don't annoy the residents, you won't get into trouble here. I still need to get to know the surrounding area more, so far I've only been to the city of Prague itself. If anyone can give you good tips, please feel free to let me know, just send a short email to info@harleysite.de

There's a lot of new stuff to see here, some of it a bit crazy, but it's entertaining. We get a lot on the big stage and no less on the small one. It is a very large event area, there are stunt shows and many other attractions. What shouldn't be forgotten, of course, are the many beautiful Harleys that are parked on the premises - you can stroll around here for hours. Check out my pictures from last year in the gallery.

But what you have to say about the development of the event!

Over the years, the Prague Harley Days have not managed to build on the successful Anniversary Event 2018 in Prague. Every year it loses a little more Harley branding and becomes more and more like an American Burger Fest. If you ask the people of Prague themselves, everything is fine, the event is not overcrowded and people are very relaxed. Residents from District 7 are allowed to attend the event free of charge, that's how it all works and the payment system with the chip is intended to simplify payment. You could probably also pay with the local crown, but not with the euro or the card. You load the chip and you have to keep the first receipt so that you can check at any time on your cell phone using the QR code how much money is still on the card. Credit will be transferred free of charge within 3 weeks of entering your bank details.

What you need to consider when booking a hotel in Prague! There is a wide range of accommodation in the beautiful city and basically you can try outside if you want to do a bit of driving. For example, there is the Pytlon Chateau Hotel near Ctěnice Castle on the border between Prague and Central Bohemia, where you will find rooms in a rustic country house style. According to the offer, for example, the parking space is included in the price; in the city they sometimes charge between €10 and €35 for a space in the underground car park. You should always look a little further down in the respective offer under “Parking Options” to see what it says there, or clarify the price for motorcycles directly at check-in so that there are no surprises.

The currency in the Czech Republic is called the Czech crown. If you want to pay with a card on site, you should be careful not to confuse your local currency with the euro. This can sometimes happen with these small terminals and if you don't notice it right away, you'll be in trouble afterwards. For this purpose, I would preferably recommend a debit card (credit card) when abroad, where you can build up a clear budget.

Can I pay with the euro in Prague?

In the Czech Republic the Czech crown is used. You could sometimes pay in euros, but you shouldn't rely on it. Paying by credit card is usually not a problem. You should be particularly careful not to enter incorrect amounts when converting when paying. If you enter crowns as euros, surprises may arise. I would always use a prepaid card with a small limit when traveling abroad.
