The 24th Summertime Party takes place on Sylt from June 1 to 4
WESTERLAND (05.04.2023) - It is Germany's dream island: Sylt, 99 square kilometers of North Frisia between wind and waves, with mighty dunes and a wide horizon - a magical place with a very special charm.
It will soon be that time again: Harley-Davidson fans will be celebrating on Sylt as the 24th Summertime Party takes place from June 1 to 4 to mark the 120th anniversary of America's most traditional motorcycle manufacturer. Numerous guests are repeat offenders, irrevocably addicted to the cool atmosphere of the event and the laid-back ambience of an island that is perfect for exploring by motorcycle.
The event organizers - Harley-Davidson Fashion Sylt and the Sylt Chapter of the Harley Owners Group - will give the unofficial starting signal for the event on Tuesday, May 30th: A giant marzipan cake with the H-D logo will be cut at Elisabethstraße 3 in Westerland and all fans of the US brand are invited to coffee, cake and informal chats about 120 years of motorcycle production.
Things really get going on Thursday, June 1. The event kicks off in the evening at Klub Provokant in Strandstraße 3-5, which has been shaking up Westerland's nightlife since 2022. On Friday, June 2, shopping at Harley-Davidson Fashion Sylt in Elisabethstraße is the order of the day - and once again, Westerland's shopping mile will be transformed into a paradisiacal biker main street. Once the V-twin has been parked, it's time to relax and talk petrol with free coffee, soft drinks and sandwiches.
In the evening, the Congress Centrum Sylt will host the traditional biker party with a lavish buffet and DJ. This year's live gig will be performed by Tin Lizzy, probably the most successful cover band in northern Germany, who shine with their rock, pop and party classics with plenty of enthusiasm, audience appeal and charisma.
On Saturday, June 3, the first bikes line up on the Westerland promenade at 9 a.m. for the parade - a gleaming chrome show accompanied by the sound of the live band Little Country Gentlemen right by the sea. Three hours later, the starting signal is given and the steel lindworm sets off to discover the island's highlights. During the stops, of course, neither the fine scampi from the „fish pope“ Gosch nor a final drink in Wenningstedt should be missed.
Before heading home on Sunday, June 4, you should snooze in the sun on the 40-kilometer-long sandy beach, plunge into the cooling North Sea waves, experience the extravagance of the island, hike its dream landscapes between dunes and heath, enjoy its delicious culinary offerings or, or, or ... The diversity of Sylt provides the ultimate variety.
The participation fee for the Summertime Party is 90 euros per person. This includes admission to the biker party including pin and buffet as well as various food vouchers for the parade stops. There are also discounted rail and boat trips across the island.
