Gera – Several advertisements for undeclared motorcycle parades
On Saturday afternoon, the police received a tip that several hundred moped/motorcycle riders were meeting near the Leinawald airfield. These had previously started in Neukirchen, Saxony, after calls for this meeting were made on social media.
When the parade finally moved towards Altenburg, there were significant traffic disruptions due to the participants' unauthorized road closures. Since the event was not registered, some participants were driving unregistered vehicles and violated the road traffic regulations several times, several fine proceedings were initiated by the police.
Criminal charges were also filed for violating the Compulsory Insurance Act, the tax code and participation in prohibited motor vehicle races. A 20-year-old who chased the police and ended up getting stuck in a dead end had to hand in his driver's license on the spot.
