Carinthia Experience Tour
Wednesday, September 4, 2024
A pleasant and relaxing tour through the regions of Lower and Central Carinthia. On around 180 km, you will experience the beauty and advantages of biking in Carinthia. Starting from Lake Faak, the route leads via Sankt Jakob and Feistritz along the Drau through the sunny Rosental valley. Through the gunsmith town of Ferlach, past the Wildensteiner waterfall, one of the highest free-falling waterfalls in Europe, we ride our bikes via Sankt Margareten to Völkermarkt.
The route continues along a well-maintained road to Diex. Diex has the reputation of being the sunniest municipality in Austria at 1159 m above sea level with an average of 2300 hours of sunshine. We continue via Brückl to the historic town of St. Veit an der Glan, which was the capital of Carinthia until 1518. Past Glanegg Castle with its vineyards, the last section of our ride takes us via Feldkirchen and along the idyllic Lake Ossiach back to Lake Faak.

Hills and Valleys Tour - through Carinthia and Slovenia
Thursday, September 5, 2024
A challenging tour across the Austrian border to Slovenia. The tour is approx. 165 km long and starts in Faak. A narrow and winding road takes us over the Wurzenpass to Kranjska Gora. The tour takes a more leisurely route to Mojstrana, the entrance to the Triglav National Park, a former village of miners and hammer makers.
But we don't want to hike in the mountains, instead the route continues via Jesenice, past the most beautiful lake in Slovenia, Lake Bled, to Radovljica, a small medieval town with views of the Karawanks and the Julian Alps. Today, Radovljica is considered Slovenia's capital for chocolate and beekeeping products. Shortly before Radovljica, in Lesce, there is an opportunity to take a break to fill up the (empty) tanks of the bikes and empty the full bladders.
Via Podbrezje, Kranje and Tržič we head back towards Austria. Another challenge with tight bends (hairpin bends) lies ahead: the Loibl Pass. The Alpine pass over the Karawanken leads you back to Austria. After passing the Tscheppaschlucht gorge and crossing the Drau river, you reach the starting point in Faak again after a stopover including a coffee break at the Motodrom Harley-Davidson®. The tour is demanding and challenging, but you will gain an insight into the alpine beauty of Slovenia. Do not forget your passport or identity card.

CANCELED - Upper Carinthia - Lake Millstätter See Tour
Friday, September 6, 2024
The tour for connoisseurs! 165 fantastic km await you. After starting at Lake Faak, we cross the outskirts of Villach. We continue towards Lake Ossiach, which we leave to the right to save time. The ruins of Landskron Castle tower above us on the right, a renovated castle from the Middle Ages, a very popular excursion destination with a bird of prey show and restaurant. Via Treffen, we head northwest through the Gegen valley and continue along a winding road to Arriach. You are now in the geographical center of Carinthia.
Via Himmelberg, the tour takes us into the Nockberge mountains and we reach the Prekowa-Höhe and Gnesau. At Patergassen we turn off towards Bad Kleinkirchheim, the world-famous winter sports resort whose ambassador is Olympic champion Franz Klammer. Ski World Cup races are regularly held here for the ladies. We take a short break at the Kaiserburg valley station parking lot and continue towards Radenthein, formerly a mining and industrial town and now home to the RHI Magnesita research center.
Along the northern shore of idyllic Lake Millstätter See we reach Seeboden. Here you can fill up the (empty) tanks of your bikes and buy snacks and drinks at the gas station store and supermarket. Seeboden is the turning point of our tour. We return to the hill above Seeboden, which is dominated by Sommeregg Castle. After a look at Sommeregg Castle (famous for knights' games and the torture museum), we head up to the Millstätter high plateau, from where there is a fantastic view of Lake Millstätter See.
Via Döbriach and the „Glanz“ hill, we reach the Drau Valley, where we ride into the Krastal Valley on a road that is perfect for bikers, with beautiful scenery and little traffic. Passing the Krastal marble quarry, where the famous sculpture symposium takes place every year, we return via Treffen and Wernberg to the starting point at Lake Faak.
