We're moving on
Hamburg celebrated Harley-Davidson at Harley Days 2017
- 400,000 visitors, 8,000 machines in the parade
- Test rides, Wall of Death, and Ride-In Bike Show
- 18 bands on two stages and nighttime fireworks displays
(Neu-Isenburg, June 25, 2017) Fruit, vegetable, and flower transporters are once again rolling around Hamburg's wholesale market. For 470 market companies, dreary everyday life has returned. From June 23 to 25, despite the mixed weather typical of northern Germany, there was a joyful state of emergency here: around 400,000 fans enjoyed the unique atmosphere with views of HafenCity and the Elbphilharmonie, and countless motorcycles took to the asphalt of Main Street in the Harley Village tent city.
At the stands of the Harley-Davidson authorized dealer, freelance traders, and caterers were in high spirits, and in the Customer Experience Area, almost all models from Milwaukee could be admired and test driven. The brand-new machines racked up mile after mile on their speedometers: the test drive team counted a total of 350 „demo rides.“.
There was also plenty of material for shop talk at the exclusive motorcycle conversions at the Dark Custom stand, in the Customizer, and at the Ride-In Bike Show, where around 50 classic or finely customized machines competed for the crown in eight categories on Saturday.
The motorcycle acrobatics in Pitt's wooden wall of death also guaranteed incredulous amazement. The experienced steep wall professionals were guests at the Hamburg Harley Days for the first time and, among other things, on the new Harley-Davidson Street Rod On the road. Afterwards, it was easy to burn off some adrenaline in front of the two stages in the Village, where 18 bands played music in the style of Harley-Davidson – including the acclaimed top acts „The Dead Daises“ and “Thundermother." On Friday and Saturday night, the event ended at the Großmarktgelände with a spectacular fireworks display before the party continued in St. Pauli: at the event's side location at Spielbudenplatz, the night was turned into day twice in a row.
Among the celebrities spotted at the event venue were comic artist Rötger „Brösel“ Feldmann and rock star Peter Maffay, who insisted on leading the grand parade, in which around 8,000 bikers took a celebrated maxi-tour through the Hanseatic city on Sunday to bid farewell – including the Reeperbahn and the Köhlbrand Bridge.
Meanwhile, the Harley party wave continues to roll on – via Lugano, Dresden, Hattingen, Bad Tölz to Faak. It goes without saying that Harley-Davidson will also return to Hamburg. The company is already looking forward to 2018.
If you want to experience Hamburg Harley Days next year, make a note of the dates: June 22 to 24.
