Hamburg Harley Days 2012 | High and low

The biggest official Harley-Davidson event in Germany is already over again, as every year we are eagerly awaiting the big party in the Hanseatic city and Peter shows us that in addition to a good motorcycle we also need good waterproof clothing. There was a good chance of getting wet three times on Friday, but the Harley Days were still well attended, and there was plenty of choice for those who didn't yet have the right clothing, the Harley-Davidson dealers from all over the country had arrived with plenty of goods and, in addition to the MotorClothes, also had Rokker pants with them, for example, which are waterproof if you have chosen the right ones, as we all know there is no such thing as bad weather 🙂 . The large area attracted numerous bikers from all over Europe, many of whom arrived a few days early, as in previous years.

Plenty of show and a good music program provided entertainment, although most bikers only come for the bikes and they were not disappointed. For the first time this year, Markus Walz (Hardcore Cycles) was also present with a selection of bikes. But Penz from Austria also found his way to Hamburg with his customized bikes, he is also one of the biggest in the scene.065-HH-Days_2012_Sa-064

Custom-Metal, House of Thunder and Kodlin are also leading the way with their conversions, the custom scene is expanding every year in Hamburg and that's a good thing.

On Saturday, the weather was great by Hamburg standards, ideal for riding and marveling, the area around the wholesale market was packed with Harleys, at times nobody could get onto the site for safety reasons, it was too crowded, it's amazing where all the Harleys came from.

But the highlight was of course the action on the Reeperbahn, the Sinful Mile was put into a peaceful state of emergency, plus there were still thousands of soccer fans present on the Heiligengeistfeld who wanted to cross the Reeperbahn after the game, but all was well, the police had the situation under control, with a very tolerant but firm approach everything was under control.

The Reeperbahn was a show mile up and down, simply brilliant when the crowd is raging and there's action everywhere.

It goes late into the night, but that's normal in St. Pauli. Hamburg has shown its best side, here and there a few hardship cases were taken out of circulation, but that's a good thing. More tolerance is not possible, it is simply a great experience when everyone can peacefully enjoy and celebrate the evening on the Reeperbahn, which shows again how different every Harley event in the world is, each one is different and has its own special features, something unique in the entire motorcycle scene that no other manufacturer can offer in this way.

298-HH-Days_2012_Sa-297Unfortunately, the low came on Sunday, the long planned ride literally fell through, a few hundred instead of several thousand bikers came to the wholesale market in pouring rain. From there, the ride started through Hamburg via the Köhlbrandbrücke and Reeperbahn etc. It was a tragedy when you think about the effort put in by everyone involved, including the authorities, to make this possible.

Nevertheless, the Harley-Days 2012 were a successful event, there were plenty of Harleys to see and in the Expo tent you could get up close and personal with them, it will have moved one or two people to fulfill their dream. In the gallery you will find about a thousand pictures of the HH-Days Hamburg, have fun looking at them, if you have taken pictures yourself, you are welcome to upload them in the Bikersbook section.

A few good events still await us, especially the European Bike Week at Faaker See is not to be forgotten, let's keep our fingers crossed for good cruiser weather.
