From June 26th to 28th, Hamburg was dominated by the Harley logo
In which other metropolis can you find a comparable “Harley density”? Where else can you call yourself “Free and Harley City”? Where else do so many fans of the “American Way of Ride” regularly come together in an urban atmosphere to celebrate a mega party with the most traditional motorcycle manufacturer in the world? Even! Hamburg and Harley, they go together like V and Twin. This was once again underlined by this year's Hamburg Harley Days, which took place from June 26th to 28th. There were around 500,000 visitors over the three days of the festival in the large event area at the HSH Nordbank Arena - and Harley-Davidson had a lot of fun.
At the numerous dealer stands, in the parking lots and on the streets of the extensive area you could find what is probably the largest motorcycle and motorcycle accessories exhibition in Germany. The visitors relaxed as they watched the bikers come and go and realized that no two Harleys are the same. This individuality was underlined by the Ride-In Bike Show on Mönckebergstrasse, where the most beautiful motorcycles competed against each other in a tough contest on Saturday. A visitor from Brandenburg, who won one of the three dream custom bikes manufactured exclusively for Jever on Saturday, can also look forward to such a mega-precious piece in the garage.
In Hamburg, however, motorcycles were by no means just available for admiration; rather, every guest with a valid driver's license was able to take a test drive of a new Harley or Buell and take a closer look at it. The six hot stunt shows by Wheeling Team Rainer Schwarz offered the ultimate kick and a lot of thrills. Numerous caterers quenched the guests' hunger and thirst, and eleven bands performed blues, country and rock on the large open-air stage.
In addition to local heroes like Kingsize Taylor, Ray Wilson & Stiltskin and Ken Hensley, who previously rocked with Genesis and Uriah Heep respectively, came into the spotlight.
The second event location at Spielbudenplatz in the heart of Sankt Pauli, where Harley-Davidson presented a customizer area, also proved to be a complete success. Around 12,000 of the approximately 75,000 machines that strolled through Hamburg this year formed up for the big parade on Sunday under the leadership of actor Till Demtrøder. A farewell – but of course not forever. Harley-Davidson is coming to Hamburg again, just a year of patience!
