Hamburg Harley Days Parade Canceled Due to Heat Warning

Setup at the Großmarkthalle is already in full swing: On Friday, June 26, the Hamburg Harley Days will open their doors for the 21st time. Through Sunday, the area around the Großmarkthalle will once again be transformed into Europe’s largest urban biker event. Guests from Germany and abroad are expected to attend and can look forward to live music, a vendor area, test rides, food and drink, and the unique Harley lifestyle.
However, the traditional Harley parade—which is about 30 kilometers long—will not take place this year on Sunday. This is due to the current heat warning issued by the German Weather Service (DWD), which forecasts temperatures of up to 38 degrees for Hamburg. For health and safety reasons, it would be irresponsible to hold the parade under these conditions.
„Given the current heat warning issued by the German Weather Service and the forecasted temperatures of up to 38 degrees, it is clear that the parade cannot take place. The health and safety of everyone involved is our top priority. The parade has been one of the highlights of the Hamburg Harley Days for many years, and we therefore deeply regret this situation. At the same time, this is not just about the motorcyclists who would be riding with hot engines and under their helmets, but also about the health of all other road users who would be exposed to extreme heat along the route or in traffic jams. “We ask all visitors for their understanding,” says Jascha Bergmann of the organizing bergmanngruppe.
The Hamburg Harley Days will take place as planned, with additional heat safety measures in place. The number of umbrellas has been doubled, additional water dispensers have been set up, free tap water and sunscreen are available, and water hoses are being used to cool down the event grounds. The Men of Mayhem area also features a pool for refreshment. All visitors are advised to ensure adequate sun protection, drink regularly, wear a hat, be considerate of others, and adjust their time at the event according to the weather conditions.
