Those were the days
The Hamburg Harley Days took place from June 24th to 26th
• The Hanseatic city under the sign of the Bar & Shield logo
• Around 400,000 visitors enjoyed music, fun and action at three locations
• Guests from China, Russia and the USA
(Neu-Isenburg, June 28, 2016) When motorcycles conquer Hamburg's asphalt, the sound of V-twins is in the air and lots of good-humored people peacefully celebrate the cool lifestyle “made in the USA”, then it's Harley Days in the Hanseatic city. From June 24th to 26th, 2016 it was that time again - people celebrated and enjoyed: Germany's largest motorcycle event was once again impressive.
Despite the sometimes changeable weather, a total of 400,000 two-wheeler fans and bikers of all brands, residents and visitors to the Hanseatic city as well as people for whom music and gasoline are in their blood were counted on the 40,000 square meters of the “ Harley Village” as well as on the other two event locations over the three event days . And there was a lot on offer for them: there was almost nothing that wasn't available at countless stalls when it came to motorcycles in general and Harley-Davidson in particular, and of course their physical well-being was also taken care of. The current Harley models were available for test rides, and a driving simulator gave visitors without a license a feeling of the great freedom in the saddle of the machines from Milwaukee.
The custom bikes in the customizer area and at the big ride-in bike show that took place on Mönckebergstrasse offered pure fascination. A “Rolling Barber” and “Seven Oaks Tattoo” beautified skin and hair for a good cause. People were able to marvel at the bizarre steam vehicles of the “Abacus Theater” as well as the nightly light and pyrotechnic show and even grab the steering wheel of a jeep on an off-road course. The sound of 14 bands that gave it their all on two stages was really impressive. The celebrated top acts on the Harley Open Air Stage included “Bonfire”, “The Quireboys” and “Prime Circle”. And late at night the party continued in the neighborhood: for two nights, the Spielbudenplatz on the Reeperbahn under the massive influence of motors, fun and rock 'n' roll.
This time, the numerous visitors who came from all over the world included not only Americans but also Chinese and Russians. Harley-Davidson CEO Matthew Levatich , who flew in from Milwaukee, was enthusiastic: “The passion for our brand breaks boundaries, we celebrated a small world summit in Hamburg !” Football legend Horst Hrubesch and bodyguard Eddy Kante were there , “Mr. Tagesschau” Jan Hofer, guests from Shanghai, Guangdong and Saint Petersburg as well as top US customizer Paul Teutul senior . Of course, they didn't miss the opportunity to lead the big parade of around 8,000 machines across Hamburg. “Gimme five” was the motto of numerous enthusiastic spectators as the steel entourage passed them.
It's a matter of honor that the Hamburg Harley Days don't take a break: in 2017 the event will take place from June 23rd to 25th.
