Hamm-Uentrop - Harley-Davidson stolen - helicopter used in manhunt
Police reports: A Harley-Davidson motorcycle was stolen from a driveway on Legienstrasse on Tuesday evening, May 10. During an extensive search with the support of a police helicopter, the motorcycle was found - the perpetrator is still on the run.
The 49-year-old owner of the motorcycle heard engine noises from his Harley at around 10.55 pm. When he stepped out of the house onto the driveway, his motorcycle was no longer there. At first, Hammer set off in the car to search for it himself, but abandoned the search without any results and alerted the police.
While recording the report at the scene, the police officers heard the engine noise of the Harley, which was still in the immediate vicinity.
During an immediate manhunt, police officers were able to locate the thief and his motorcycle on Lippestraße in an easterly direction. However, he continued to flee at high speed along Sundernstraße in the direction of Alter Uentroper Weg. The motorcycle thief ignored all signs to stop.
On Geithenkamp, he turned onto a gravel sidewalk bordered by barrier posts in front of the canal bridge - the following patrol car therefore had to break off the pursuit here.
A helicopter was also used in the extensive search.
Around an hour later, at around 11.50 p.m., the Harley-Davidson was found by police officers under the canal bridge on Ostwennemarstraße - but the perpetrator was able to flee.
He is about 1.80 meters tall, slim and was wearing a black leather jacket, a black helmet and a dark blue rucksack with black appliqués.
The motorcycle was seized.
