Hamm-Uentrop – Harley-Davidson stolen – helicopter used for search
Police reports Harley-Davidson motorcycle was stolen from a property entrance on Legienstrasse on Tuesday evening, May 10th. The motorcycle was found during an extensive search with the support of a police helicopter - the perpetrator is still on the run.
The 49-year-old owner of the motorcycle heard the engine noise of his Harley p.m. When he stepped out of the house onto the driveway, his motorcycle was no longer there. Hammer initially went on a search in his car, but stopped searching without any results and alerted the police.
When recording the complaint on site, the police officers themselves became witnesses: They heard the engine noise of the Harley, which was still in the immediate vicinity.
As part of an immediate search, police forces were able to locate the thief and his motorcycle on Lippestrasse in the east direction. However, he fled at high speed along Sundernstraße in the direction of Alter Uentroper Weg. The motorcycle thief ignored all stop signs.
On the Geithenkamp, in front of the canal bridge, he turned onto a gravel sidewalk bordered by barriers - the following patrol car therefore had to break off the chase here.
A helicopter was also used in the comprehensive search.
Around an hour later, around 11:50 p.m., the Harley-Davidson was found by police officers under the canal bridge on Ostwennemarstrasse - but the perpetrator was able to escape.
He is around 1.80 meters tall, slim and was wearing a black leather jacket, a black helmet and a dark blue backpack with black applications.
The motorcycle was seized.
The Hamm police will receive information about the fleeing thief on 02381 916-0 or at notices.hamm@polizei.nrw.de .(hr)
