Oxford, April 25, 2019 – Harley-Davidson has agreed a long-term sponsorship of the Formula E team Envision Virgin Racing . The commitment underlines the American motorcycle manufacturer's enthusiasm for electrically powered vehicles and its determination to become a leading manufacturer in the rapidly growing e-mobility sector while communicating the performance that e-mobility offers to a growing audience worldwide.
The first Harley-Davidson electric motorcycle , the LiveWire , will be available on the market in fall 2019. For the company, it is the first electrically powered machine in a broad e-portfolio planned for the near future. Harley-Davidson wants to develop into a leading provider in the field of two-wheeled e-mobility and appeal to a wide range of customers with its electrically powered two-wheelers - from the youngest newcomers who are gaining their first two-wheeled experience to the experienced motorcycle fan who is looking for a performance-oriented driving experience.
Marc McAllister , Vice President of Product Planning and Portfolio at Harley-Davidson, explains: “Electric vehicles are the hot topic around the world when it comes to the future of mobility. And that future begins now. That's why we're delighted to be partnering with Envision Virgin Racing, one of the leading representatives of Formula E - arguably the most competitive environment in motorsport with electrically powered vehicles. The team's passion, professionalism and commitment to electric vehicles fit perfectly with our own ideas about e-mobility. As we begin our work together, it will be an incredibly exciting time for us.”
Sylvain Filippi , Managing Director of Envision Virgin Racing, added: “We are delighted to welcome such a charismatic brand like Harley-Davidson to the ranks of our sponsors. Harley-Davidson shares with us a passion for developing innovative technologies and sustainable mobility. Together we will now present our ideas in this regard on two and four wheels. After Stanley Black & Decker at the Paris E-Prix last year, Audi Sport in the fall and Genpact in December, Harley-Davidson is the fourth major partner our team has won in the past twelve months.”
