H-D Connect is standard on the 2020 models Touring models (with the exception of the Electra Glide Standard and the Road King Modelle), dem Tri Glide Ultra, den CVO Modellen und der LiveWire.Harley-Davidson Modelle mit H-D Connect sind mit einem Telematiksteuergerät(TCU) ausgestattet, das sie per integriertem LTE-Modem mit der Cloud verbindet.

  • Thanks to H-D Connect and the H-D app, the owner of the motorcycle can call up information on the current vehicle status at any time with a corresponding mobile phone connection. This includes the fuel level or battery charge status, remaining range, riding mode, mileage, vehicle usage statistics and - depending on the equipment - tire pressure and the version number of the infotainment software. With the LiveWire, the owner can use the H-D app to search for and navigate to the nearest charging station, remotely call up the remaining charging time during the charging process and receive notifications about the charging status.
  • Tampering warning and vehicle tracking: In order to achieve a high level of security H-D Connect displays the position of the bike on a map in the Harley-Davidson machine on a map in the Harley-Davidson app. Should unauthorized persons tamper with the machine or move it, the owner receives a corresponding corresponding notification. If the motorcycle is removed from a certain radius around the parking position, the owner receives a further alarm signal (geofencing). Thanks to GPS-supported tracking, the location of a stolen vehicle can also be traced. vehicle can be tracked.
  • Service reminders and notifications: Among other things, the H-D app reminds the owner when maintenance maintenance work and upcoming inspections.

Reflex Defensive Rider Systems (RDRS)

The Reflex Defensive Rider Systems (RDRS) assistance system package adapts the acceleration and deceleration forces to the available tire grip both when driving straight ahead and when cornering.

More Information

** The assistance systems it contains are electronically controlled and are based on the latest chassis, braking and drive control technology. Their interventions are not noticeable during normal driving, but prove to be helpful in difficult road conditions and dangerous situations.

With certain exceptions, the RDRS functions are only available as a complete package.

RDRS is standard in model year 2020 on the Harley-Davidson LiveWire, the trikes, the Harley-Davidson CVO models and the touring models Road King Special, Street Glide Special, Road Glide Special, Ultra Limited and the new Road Glide Limited.

RDRS includes the following features:

  • Electronic combined braking system with cornering ABS C-ELB (Cornering Enhanced Electronic Linked Braking)

The C-ELB electronic combined braking system prevents the wheels from locking when braking and always decelerates both wheels simultaneously, even if the driver only uses the handbrake lever or the footbrake pedal. Many drivers achieve better braking performance with this integrated system.

It responds more spontaneously and allows more efficient brake force distribution to the front and rear wheels in numerous riding situations. The system dynamically couples the front and rear brakes together more strongly the more braking pressure the rider applies.

Even if the rider only operates the handbrake lever, the system applies increasingly more braking pressure to the rear brake in combined mode. If only the foot brake pedal is operated, C-ELB also brakes with the left front brake calliper.

The system also takes the current lean angle or, in the case of trikes, the lateral acceleration into account when controlling the braking force.

When cornering, C-ELB varies the braking force ratio between the front and rear brakes with the aim of keeping the motorcycle as far as possible on the line chosen by the rider.

C-ELB is standard in model year standard on all CVO models and on all Touring models with the with the exception of the Electra Glide Standard and the Road King.

  • Cornering ABS (C-ABS)

The ABS anti-lock braking system controls the front and rear brakes independently of each other and prevents the wheels from locking when braking. In this way, it helps the rider to keep the motorcycle under control and decelerate optimally during emergency braking when riding straight ahead.

C-ABS is an advanced anti-lock braking system that also works in an inclined position. In this riding situation, a tire can transmit less braking force without locking than when riding straight ahead.

C-ABS is in the 2020 model year standard on the LiveWire, the CVO models, the trikes and the Touring models with the exception of the Electra Glide Standard and the Road King. ABS is standard on all other Harley-Davidson models.

  • Cornering traction control system C-TCS (Cornering Enhanced Traction Control System)

The C-TCS cornering traction control system prevents excessive slip on the rear wheel when accelerating, both when driving straight ahead and when cornering.

In this way, C-TCS supports the driver in particular when tire grip is limited, such as in precipitation, on suddenly changing road surfaces or on unpaved roads.

The driver can select two different C-TCS modes: Standard mode is optimized for dry roads, Rain mode for wet roads. Traction control can also be deactivated completely. The system also takes the current lean angle into account when C-TCS intervenes.

C-TCS is in the 2020 model year standard on the LiveWire, the CVO models and all Touring models with the exception of the Electra Glide Standard and the Road King.

  • Drag-Torque Slip Control System (DSCS) and Cornering Enhanced Drag-Torque Slip Control System (C-DSCS)

In coasting mode, the DSCS traction control system prevents slippage and locking of the rear wheel, which can occur when the throttle grip is closed abruptly on slippery roads.

If the DSCS detects excessive slip on the rear wheel during deceleration, it adjusts the peripheral speed of the wheel to the driving speed by regulating the engine torque. On models with C-DSCS, the current lean angle is also taken into account.

DSCS is in the 2020 model year standard on the CVO models and for the Touring models with the exception of the Electra Glide Standard and the Road King. C-DSCS is standard on the Harley-Davidson LiveWire.

  • Vehicle Hold Control VHC (Vehicle Hold Control)

VHC automatically prevents the motorcycle from rolling away after the rider has released the brakes. This mainly involves stopping and waiting in traffic, for example uphill in front of a stop sign, downhill in slow-moving traffic or on a steep parking garage ramp.

In such traffic situations, confident starting off is child's play thanks to VHC. This is because the system automatically holds the motorcycle with the brakes until the rider accelerates and activates the clutch.

In addition, VHC can also be activated on a level road if the driver wants to maintain the position without having to apply the brakes.

The driver activates VHC with a short braking impulse via the handbrake lever or the foot brake pedal after stopping. If the driver continues to maintain brake pressure after coming to a standstill following heavy braking, VHC is also activated without an additional brake impulse.

A VHC control LED informs the driver as soon as the system is active and the ABS automatically continues to apply brake pressure after the brake is released. To automatically deactivate the VHC function, the driver simply has to start off from a standstill or apply the brakes again.

VHC is not intended as a parking brake and therefore automatically releases the brakes when the side stand is folded out, when the neutral gear is engaged on vehicles without a side stand or when the engine is switched off.

In most situations, the indicator light starts flashing after five minutes and VHC automatically releases the brakes shortly afterwards if no further input is received from the driver.

VHC is in the 2020 model year standard on the CVO models and the Touring models with the exception of the Electra Glide Standard and the Road King. VHC is not designed for use as a parking brake.

  • Tire pressure monitoring system TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)

The TPMS tire pressure monitoring system warns the driver if the tire pressure is too low. Correct tire pressure is crucial for both driving performance and the service life of the tires.

TPMS is part of the RDRS assistance system package, but can also be retrofitted individually on 2020 Touring models via the Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Parts & Accessories program, provided they have original or accessory wheels that can be retrofitted with a TPMS sensor.

TPMS is in the 2020 model year standard on the CVO models and the Touring models with the exception of the Electra Glide Standard and the Road King.

RDRS for trikes: The Harley-Davidson Freewheeler and the Tri Glide Ultra model are available with an RDRS version specially designed for trikes with C-ELB, C-ABS and C-TCS, while the CVOTri Glide also features theTPMS tire pressure monitoring system.

* H-D Connect is not available not available in all markets at the time of the presentation and will be different markets at different times. H-D Connect is free of charge for new vehicle buyers for one year and then available as a subscription available for a fee. It will be available from fall 2019 in the USA, Canada, Puerto Rico and most EU countries.

** Tire grip depends on tire contact and the road surface. surface. The RDRS package can limit the braking pressure and the drive torque. In doing so, it attempts to prevent the forces acting on the tires from exceeding the exceed the available tire grip. However, the technology can neither provide more grip or operate the accelerator or brakes independently of the driver (for example when rolling through a bend with the clutch pulled out). RDRS can also not directly direction of travel directly. This is where this system differs system differs from automatic stability programs used in cars. On motorcycle, the rider remains responsible for the line and for steering corrections. responsible for steering corrections.
