From a legal perspective, it is little more than a trademark, a name, or a logo, but for consumers, it means much more: it provides guidance in a sea of products, positions them in the market, and conveys a clear message. We are talking about the brand. But a good name and a pretty symbol are not enough for success—a brand must deliver on its promises, otherwise it will quickly disappear. The company, all its products, and everyone involved in them must work hard every day to earn the trust of customers. Those who succeed in doing so will find that their brand is „valuable.“.

What this means in concrete terms is determined annually by the international market research institute. „Interbrand“. In the complex process, in which brands are rated based on seven factors, Harley-Davidson is once again among the top brands in 2013. „Top 100" the most valuable brands in the world. According to experts, the brand value has increased by 10 percent compared to the previous year. Among the 14 automotive brands listed in the ranking, the Milwaukee-based company is the only manufacturer that exclusively produces motorcycles.

The representative market study, based on over 500 telephone interviews, evaluates product quality, delivery capability, and dealer support in marketing and sales. Harley-Davidson beat out a competitor from Germany and one from Italy to take the top spot on the podium with the highest score in the „Motorcycle Manufacturer Volume“ category.

Last but not least, the high-caliber jury of „bike und business“ selected the „Motorcycle Dealer of the Year“ from 118 companies participating in this year's competition – and once again caused champagne corks to pop in the black and orange camp: Harley-Davidson Westpoint in Augsburg was presented with the coveted trophy – 220 representatives from industry, trade, and associations celebrated at the fourth „bike und business“ symposium in Würzburg.
