Largest Harley-Davidson store in eastern Germany opens in Chemnitz

Harley-Davidson Chemnitz – The time has come. On Saturday (May 21), East Germany's largest Harley-Davidson store will open in the former Chemnitz-Mitte train station with a big biker festival.

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. There will be live music and a colorful market on the station forecourt at Reichsstraße 1, a DJ, and of course everything a Harley fan could wish for in the old station building, which has been renovated in line with heritage protection requirements. Motorcycle fans and interested citizens are warmly invited. Also Head of Harley-Davidson Europe Kolja Rebstock is expected in Chemnitz.

The opening marks the disappearance of an eyesore in Chemnitz. For two years, the Radebeul-based investor Thomas Göbelbecker The old station site has been carefully renovated and modernized. It had previously lain vacant for 15 years and been left to decay. Around 2.5 million euros were invested in the building, which was opened in 1858 as Nicolai Station. The name now adorns the front of the building, as do two tower clocks, which have been recreated based on historical models. 

So now Nicolai Station is becoming home to the largest East German Harley-Davidson Stores and probably one of the most beautiful and original in all of Europe. Covering 2,000 square meters, where tickets used to be sold and billiards was sometimes played, the latest machines are presented and customized to customer requirements, accessories and fashion are sold, and the Harley lifestyle is showcased.

Seeing all this in the still authentic station atmosphere is inspiring. Twelve employees take care of everything and give the Chemnitz Harley-Davidson Store, which had been renting space on Zwickauer Straße since 2013 and is now moving to a location three times the size, has found a new home. In the basement, Master brewer Nico Munzer has set up shop with its brewery and bar and offers its locally brewed specialty beers.
