Harley-Davidson Cologne congratulates
49-year-old from Wipperfürth wins a Harley in the INTERMOT competition
(Neu Isenburg, November 7th, 2018) Andreas B. from Bergisches Land was astonished when the Cologne trade fair informed him that he had won a motorcycle in this year's competition at the international motorcycle, scooter and e-bike trade fair INTERMOT.
“At first I could hardly believe it. I thought someone was joking with me,” admits the 49-year-old father. This was by no means fake news: In the 2019 season, the man from Wipperfürth will be allowed to take off on a Harley-Davidson Street Rod.
On Saturday, November 3rd, the time had come: Andreas B. picked up his bike at Harley-Davidson Cologne. Managing director Daniela Denz and operations manager Detlef Jeske handed him the vehicle keys and
-papers. Full of enthusiasm, the beaming winner jumped into the saddle and would obviously have preferred to set off straight away – had the weather permitted it. “When I was 16, I had a Mokick, a Kreidler RMC-S, and dreamed of riding a Harley through the USA,” grins Andreas B.
“When I finally got my driving license, the first thing I got was a 'real' motorcycle.” But he had to part with it with a heavy heart almost 20 years ago. Marriage, work and parenthood left no room for the hobby.
But in the past summer of the century, the old passion was rekindled: “I discovered an advertisement for INTERMOT in a magazine somewhere. It became clear to me: You have to go there because you really want to ride a motorcycle again.” Of course, the man from Wipperfürth did not expect that this wish would come true so quickly and easily.
His new machine, a Harley-Davidson Street Rod, is powered by a 750 cc V2 engine. “With 71 hp in the stiff chassis with its sporty suspension components, Andreas will have a lot of fun on the winding roads in Bergisch,” says Daniela Denz from Harley-Davidson Cologne.
The winner also found the color of his new machine “super cool”, a matt shade of red called Denim Red. Andreas B. wants to go on his first tour on the Harley in the spring - perhaps with his 15-year-old daughter as a pillion passenger. Who knows, he might even infect her with his resurrected motorcycle virus.
