Eastern Hesse: Harley-Davidson crashes on A7 construction site – rider seriously injured
Niederaula – On Friday, June 3, 2022, at around 3:30 a.m., a 66-year-old man from the Ludwigshafen am Rhein area was riding his Harley-Davidson FD2 motorcycle on the A7 freeway between Kassel and Fulda, between the Kirchheim and Hattenbach interchanges, in the right-hand lane of the two lanes that had been moved to the left due to construction work at that location.
According to current investigations, the driver veered off the road to the right for unknown reasons in the construction zone, struck the road barrier (concrete guardrail), and crashed.
The driver of the motorcycle was responsive at the scene but was seriously injured and received medical treatment from an emergency doctor and paramedics at the scene of the accident. He was then taken to a hospital.
The two left-hand lanes in the construction zone had to be closed for about 50 minutes due to the emergency response measures. Traffic backed up for about 3 kilometers until the lanes were reopened.
No other road users were involved in the traffic accident.
The resulting property damage is estimated at approximately €2,000.
The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
