Say goodbye quietly

There will be no Harley Dome Cologne in 2018

• Celebrations took place four times in North Rhine-Westphalia's largest metropolis.
• Unfortunately, economic implementation of the major city event is no longer possible

(Neu-Isenburg, November 30, 2017) Hello, farewell and farewell - there are many ways to say goodbye. In Cologne you just say goodbye. But goodbye would perhaps be more appropriate in this case, because this may not be a forever goodbye. What is certain is that it is one for here and now: The fourth Harley Dome Cologne was probably the last of its kind for the time being.

Unfortunately, it will no longer be possible to economically implement the major event, which is free for visitors, in the inner city area of the Rhenish metropolis and a satisfactory alternative area has not been found.

The event started in 2014 - initially on the grounds of the Tanzbrunnen. Around 16,000 motorcycle and party fans had a “super jeilezick” at the time, and 4,000 to 5,000 V-twins roared through the streets of Cologne. The event grew and thrived. Since 2016, the celebration has been taking place on Alfred-Schhütte-Allee, directly on the right bank of the Rhine - with a wonderful view of the cathedral and Cologne's flagship urban district, the Rheinauhafen with its spectacular crane houses.

It's a shame that this is over for now! But because you “never quite go” in Cologne, it’s not every day that it’s evening for a Harley-Davidson event in North Rhine-Westphalia’s largest metropolis. Maybe it will work again in the not too distant future? In any case, Harley-Davidson promises to stay tuned!

Kölle Goodbye! The Harley Dome Cologne is no longer taking place.
Goodbye to Kölle! The Harley Dome Cologne is no longer taking place.

As has now been announced, it is now unfortunately clear that the Harley Dome Cologne will no longer take place. Below you will find the official announcement.

Dear friends of the HDC,

Thank you very much… we thought about it for a long time!
The HDC is our baby and it is very difficult to make a rational decision about a project with which we have felt so emotionally connected over the last few years and with which we have had so much joy and for which we have worked so hard.
There were great moments that made up for all the effort.
We were able to get to know valuable people, guests and partners and work with a great team. The costs for a major event in the city center have increased enormously in recent years, so that we can no longer provide the economic basis for holding it.
After careful consideration and many discussions, we will no longer be organizing the HDC in 2018.
We would like to thank you again for your trust, for the excellent cooperation, for your commitment and your visit!
The Cologne says, you never go completely.
Respect and warm greetings
Ride always free & save
Christoph Kuckelkorn Klaus Eschmann & the whole HDC team

(Neu-Isenburg, March 29, 2017) Over 2000 years ago, the Romans decided that this exact spot on the Rhine was ideal for staying. They founded a settlement that soon became “Colonia” (colony) and much later “Cologne” . And it's still a great place to spend some time. Not only the 1.06 million people in Cologne know this, but also the six million visitors from all over the world every year. These also include thousands of motorcycle fans who have been making the pilgrimage to the metropolis once a year since 2014 to experience Harley Dome Cologne Since last year, the major event taking place diagonally opposite the old town and cathedral on the Poller Wiesen.

2017HD10 Harley Dome Cologne Preview 1This year it all starts on May 19th at the evening meet and greet in Harry's New York Bar at Pipinstrasse 1. A day later, Alfred-Schütte-Allee mutates into “Main Street” and there's a lot going on around the large event area. The Harley-Davidson authorized dealers from Cologne and Bonn as well as numerous independent traders ensure that no wish remains unfulfilled when it comes to motorcycles, clothing and accessories. The dark custom bikes, reduced to the essentials, at the stand of the same name and of course the many visitors' machines - including an armada of noble custom bikes that compete against each other in the battle for honor and trophies in a public and expert jury evaluation - provide material for talking shop. Cologne/Bonn Airport is presenting a very special “custom project”. Some of the follow me cars are to be replaced here in the future by Harley bikes in the “Follow me” design, which will be presented at the Harley Dome Cologne. Anyone who registers for a test ride on one of the 30 demo ride machines will find out what it feels like to get in the saddle themselves. Meanwhile, the Electric Fun Park presents a contrasting program to the combustion engine with Solo Wheels, Balance Boards and Segways, while fans of stylish transportation on four wheels can look forward to the presentations from Jaguar and Land Rover.

Hunger and thirst can be quenched in the newly expanded street food market with a number of culinary highlights, and the cozy “Sun and Fun” chill-out areas and beer gardens invite you to relax. The Harley Dome Cologne Radio Show is new: On both days of the event, two presenters will provide a program with scene highlights, interviews and live musical gigs on the radio show stage. One of the event highlights is of course the big parade, which will roll through the city on Saturday and promote more understanding and cooperation in road traffic.

2016HD25 Harley Dome Cologne Review

The street food market offered a number of culinary highlights that are not usually expected at a motorcycle event, while people in the beer gardens armed themselves with cold drinks against the sun, which was rare on Saturday but was shining brightly all day long on Sunday burned. The bollard meadows directly adjacent to the event site offered space to relax and enjoy the incomparable Rhine panorama including the cathedral.

Precious metal on two wheels - around 100 elaborately converted unique pieces - could be admired in the custom bike show, where the jury evaluation was supplemented this year by a separate audience vote. “Main Street” on their bikes – around 5,000 bikers didn’t have to be asked twice. “See and be seen” was also the motto of the big parade, in which around 3,000 machines rolled through the city center and past the tourist highlights of the cathedral metropolis to the cheers of numerous onlookers.

Rock this party

This year's Harley Dome Cologne will take place on June 18th and 19th, 2016

• New location with an “Urban Street” concept directly on the banks of the Rhine
• Test rides, custom bike show, street food market, parade and 13 live bands
• Free entry

(Neu-Isenburg, March 23, 2016) Is Cologne Germany's greatest city? The people of Cologne say: Absolutely! The cheerful, open and uncomplicated attitude of the residents of this “village of millions on the Rhine” contributes significantly to the unshakable local patriotic view. Cologne residents like to laugh and celebrate - and festivals like the Harley Dome Cologne, which takes place on June 18th and 19th, underline the nonchalance of the Rhenish metropolis. There is good reason for the event, which is taking place for the third time, to be subtitled “Urban Street” this time, as the organizers have reorganized the event location. The 2016 celebration will take place on Alfred-Schhütte-Allee, directly on the right bank of the Rhine - with a wonderful view of the cathedral and Cologne's flagship urban district, the Rheinauhafen with its spectacular crane houses.

The approximately one kilometer long avenue acts as the “Main Street” during the event, where people and machines can see and be seen.2016HD10 Harley Dome Cologne 2016 1 It offers plenty of space for motorcycle, accessories and clothing retailers as well as the Jeep adventure course. The free test rides on the current Harley-Davidson models and the big parade through the cathedral city start from the event site, which is seen as a demonstration against intolerance and violence towards motorcyclists in traffic. A 4,000 m2 industrial hall on the event site houses the used and small parts market, which anyone who has registered via the website can take part. The custom bike show also takes place here: on Saturday the most beautiful among the beautiful conversions will be selected by a jury of experts and on Sunday via public voting.

While the adjacent Rhine meadows invite you to picnic in the countryside, artists along the avenue invite you to marvel, beer garden islands invite you to relax and catering stands invite you to feast - from juicy steak from the smoker to spicy salmon prepared over an open fire - stay at this "Street Food Market" no wishes left unfulfilled.

In addition to the countless motorcycles, thirteen bands provide the stylish event soundtrack.
Eight of them have already won national contests. Admission to the Harley Dome Cologne 2016 is free. Anyone who would like to drive onto the site by motorcycle will receive an “Urban Street Pass” valid on both days for 10 euros, which will allow them to stroll along the avenue on their bike as long and as often as they want and also to park there. If it is overcrowded, you can park nearby for free. Further information can be found at www.harleydomecologne.de .

The second Harley Dome Cologne was a complete success

Kölle, alaaf you!

The second Harley Dome Cologne was a complete success

• More than 12,000 visitors to the event area at the Tanzbrunnen
• Large trader area, history exhibition, after-show party and parade
• Live rock from Michael Schenker and Cologne stars, among others

Under the motto “More Bikes, more Music, more Cologne”, the venerable cathedral city was upside down for a whole weekend: From May 23rd to 24th, Cologne was in a party mood because the Harley Dome Cologne took place in North Rhine-Westphalia's largest metropolis for the second time . The heart of the event beat on the right bank of the Rhine, because only from here you have the perfect view of the cathedral and the picturesque old town. But the stars of the event were not Cologne's landmarks, but thousands of motorcycles. Over 12,000 bikers, party and music fans came from near and far to meet friends, talk petrol and celebrate.

On Friday evening, motorcyclists filled the quaint streets of the old town, the Hard Rock Cafe hosted a meet and greet party with guitarist Jimmy Cornett, and the evening ended with cocktails in the Ice Bar of the Hilton Hotel.

From Saturday onwards, the organizers had a lot of fun at the event area at the Tanzbrunnen: even more accessories, fashion and food stands than at the debut event last year encouraged people to stroll, feast and shop. In addition to the chilled out beach club on the banks of the Rhine, this year there were drink islands and plenty of seating on the grounds as well as an after-show party on Saturday to relax. The US manufacturer’s dark factory custom bikes and the German “Custom Kings” were presented in a dark custom area.

The large exhibition marking the anniversary of the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide with original machines from the model's fifty-year history attracted numerous visitors to the Tanzbrunnen Theater. And right next door you could test drive the latest V-twin versions from Milwaukee, after all, the big Harley trucks had brought a whole armada of current bikes to Cologne especially for this purpose.

The bike photo shoot and the Jeep adventure course put a big grin on the faces of the visitors. The artfully converted custom bikes, which competed against each other in a large contest, stimulated a number of technical discussions. However, it wasn't just the many V-Twins who were responsible for providing befitting good vibrations, as strong bands rocked the large open-air stage on both days. The highlights included Michael Schenker's Temple of Rock on Saturday evening and the crème of Cologne's music scene on Sunday.

Of course, the bikers didn't miss the opportunity to show Cologne the reference with a big parade. Under the motto “Against intolerance in road traffic”, the steel wyvern made up of around 5,500 machines snaked its way across the Rhine and across the city on Saturday - to the delight of the people of Cologne and all the guests, because it is rare to see so many Harleys in action. A successful event and a reason to celebrate again next year. More information will be available shortly at www.harleydomecologne.de .
