But still, the clocks run a little differently in Russia, the event is currently being restructured, but even if something changes, the city of St. Petersburg is so beautiful and there is enough to do once you are there.

The Harley-Davidson parade through the middle of St. Petersburg has been indescribable in recent years. What is particularly surprising is that there are so many Harley riders in Russia.

And as is common among Harley riders all over the world, people talk to each other very quickly. The hospitality of Russians is great.

1 SPB 2017 DSC 1057Crazy, the Harley-Davidson meeting in Eastern Europe is one of the most beautiful and spectacular ever, visitors come from over 50 countries to the western Russian metropolis of millions. Unfortunately the weather wasn't quite as good this year, but luckily the temperatures cooperated so it wasn't quite as bad.

According to the organizers, there were around 3,000 Harleys in the parade. It felt like this number was an understatement, despite the rain, very few people missed the opportunity to take part in the parade.

1 SPB 2017 DSC 0512 2We started on the Palace Square where the Alexander Column stands, directly in front of the Hermitage, or more precisely in front of the Tsar's Winter Palace. This unique setting and architecture cannot be found anywhere else in the world. Surrounded by radio and television crews, the machines were admired; one is always surprised at how modern the city is. The roads are getting better every year, some of the traffic lights are already equipped with LEDs and display the time. There are also a lot of Harley-Davidson motorcycles to see here, the big conversions like Rick's are less to see, but the Harleys are all very well maintained and in top condition. The few custom bikes are still very good and rather atypical conversions, some have strange airbrush paintwork and most of them have a good sound anyway.

The highlight is the parade past the palaces of the UNESCO World Heritage city

Shortly after there was a heavy rain shower, the parade started, at times four abreast went through the city center and along the boulevards of St. Petersburg.
This is an unforgettable moment, people are standing on the left and right on the streets and this view along the street to the front, where the next sight is already reflecting the first rays of sunshine after the rain. The parade ended on the festival grounds, where visitors were already waiting for the Harleys. The venue is in the middle of the city, so lots of onlookers come to look at the great machines. The event is very well organized, everything is clean and safe. No drunks wandering around the premises, as alcohol is not served here. This is only available in the restaurants or in an exclusive tent provided by the organizer.

St Petersburg Harley Days

A good music program is presented on two stages, there was plenty of entertainment, stunt shows, a bike show and after the event there was an after-show party where Ken Hensley, known from Uriah Heep, gave his best.
The conclusion of 2017: Even more stands than 2016, another great parade, great event area and very hospitable Russians. The roads are now better than ours and like last year, it was over far too quickly.

Unfortunately there was a bit too much rain this year, but even the bad weather can't dispel this magnificent city!

It's worth the trip!

The Harley-Davidson parade on the Saint Petersburg Harley Days starts directly on the large Palace Square in front of the Hermitage under the eye of the Alexander Column. This is an indescribable backdrop when the Harley Parade starts there and runs through the wide streets of Saint Petersburg. One impressive old building next to the other, most of them in a very well-preserved condition. Read More

Harley Days 2017 starts in Saint Petersburg in August

Saint Petersburg Harley Days 1

Join us on the guided tour to the St. Petersburg Harley Days 2017

It starts again at the end of July, then we drive in a convoy to the Harley Days in Saint Petersburg . There are two routes via the Scandinavian capitals Copenhagen, Stockholm and Helsinki, or by boat from Travemünde to Helsinki and then on to our friends in Saint Petersburg. It is probably the northernmost major Harley Days event in Europe, the metropolis is one of the most beautiful cities you can visit in Europe, it has countless magnificent buildings and museums, as well as a great Harley event in the middle of the city.

Saint Petersburg Harley Days 2Hospitality is very important here, very friendly hosts and the journey here is something very special. On the Nordland route we spend the night in Copenhagen to see the beautiful city, the route takes us over the famous Öresund Bridge towards Stockholm, we spend the night in Vaxjö, which is in southern Sweden, just to see more of the landscape. Once we are in Stockholm, we can look forward to a great crossing with the Silja Line . These ferries have nothing to do with a normal crossing, there are great restaurants and a shopping mile here. It is particularly nice to enjoy the exit from Stockholm on the upper outside deck. These large ships from the Silja Line have a special flair.

Tallink Silja Line

Saint Petersburg Harley Days 4The Baltic Sea route goes from the Hanseatic city of Lübeck by ferry directly to Helsinki, where we will meet with the Nordland route. We are picked up there by our Finnish friends to drive towards the Russian border, where our Russian friends are already waiting for us. After we have passed the border crossing, we continue towards Saint Petersburg. The roads there are mostly good, there are potholes, but we are used to that on our roads, but here they can be a bit bigger, you have to be prepared for that be.

You need a visa for the trip and if you travel with your own bike you have to export it once and import it back into Europe. If you are doing the trip for the first time, you should definitely use the service offered by this trip.

Saint Petersburg Harley Days 5An event that last year even had a night parade, which would be unimaginable for us, that the Harley's would parade through the middle of the city in the evening, is possible here! It looks great when the machines, some of which are strangely lit, are driving on these wide streets.

There are still places available, if you still want to be there in 2017, you can get more information calling 040-494111 or on the website www.greatestrides.de
