Dipl. Ing. Wolfram Rummel closes the Harley-Davidson gallery in Gelting near Wolfratshausen
(Gelting, November 13, 2019)
“Very good specialist staff and very good selection... gladly again!”, “Great service, ... price is also super fair.” “I'm glad I bought Harley the Harley-Davidson Gallery in Gelting near Wolfratshausen received a top rating. The head and founder of the highly praised Harley representation is Dipl. Ing. Wolfram Rummel - and has been for 25 years now.
“When we opened in 1994, our store was the largest in Germany,” reports Rummel. It's no longer the biggest, but it's still very special, because art has always been part of Rummel's concept: “Back then, we were surprised that so few women rode Harley-Davidsons.
We wanted to change that – with art. Hence the word gallery in our company name.” Pictures , sculptures and photographs in the showroom were not only liked by the ladies, Rummel also attracted a number of men. And regardless of gender, art enthusiasts fell for the Harley-Davidson brand in droves.
Of course, the fact that Rummel not only swears by art and antiques, but is also an authentic biker and creative machine tinkerer also contributed to this.
As a teenager, he built his first trial motorcycle from Rex and Zündapp parts and, after studying mechanical engineering, he developed heat pumps and air conditioning technology for vehicles before following his personal passion for motorcycles made in the USA and opening Harley-Davidson Gallery .
From the beginning, the company's motto was “Service is our argument”. To do this, Rummel gathered a team of motivated and competent employees and began customizing bikes at an early stage.
This resulted in countless conversions according to customer requirements with the best craftsmanship and - wherever possible - reversible execution, because Rummel is convinced that a possible restoration to the original condition optimally preserves the value of the machine. You can even find a dynamometer at the Geltinger Harley dealership.
“The most important thing is that the customer is satisfied when they leave our company,” emphasizes Rummel. A powerful argument that now attracts customers from all parts of Germany and even from neighboring countries to the Upper Bavarian district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen.
Is it any wonder that the Harley-Davidson Gallery also launched HOG Isartal Chapter in 1997 , of which he was director until 2015. And since 2014, the busy V-twin aficionado has even been celebrating an annual Harley event : “Together with Peter Frech, we created Harley Rock 'n' Race
For a weekend, people celebrate in Harley style around the Jailhouse diner in Bad Tölz .” Guests from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg and Italy then occupy almost all of the rooms and restaurants in the district town.
But Rummel wouldn't be Rummel if he didn't actively participate in the fortunes of Harley-Davidson : just one year after opening his motorcycle store, he was elected chairman of the German and Austrian Harley-Davidson dealer association, an honorary position that he has held ever since with a short break of two years.
“Our association has not only earned the recognition of the German importer, but also that of Harley-Davidson Europe and Harley-Davidson, USA, ” says Rummel, not without pride. The board knows that things can only be moved forward through constant exchange and cooperation.
As we know, when things are at their best, you should stop. A quarter of a century of Harley-Davidson gallery is enough and Wolfram Rummel has secretly passed the age of 70 for some time now.
The dealer association and Harley-Davidson Germany will miss him and wish him all the best for his well-deserved retirement.
the end of December , but one thing is clear: you will continue to meet Rummel wherever Harley riders and fans gather, because someone like him will never completely retire.
