Great success and donation presentation at the end of the largest Harley-Davidson History Exhibition in Europe
You never go completely like that
The “120 Years of Harley-Davidson” exhibition in the Central Garage Museum ended in January 2024
(Frankfurt, January 22, 2023) It opened in Bad Homburg on April 23, 2023, and ended 272 days later: the largest Harley-Davidson History Exhibition that has ever taken place in Europe. The idea for this came from Dieter, Philipp and Moritz Dressel, vintage car fans and initiators of the Central Garage car museum, as well as Thomas Trapp and Matthias Meier, owners of the Frankfurt Harley Factory.
Thanks to our own extensive collections of historic vehicles and thanks to the commitment of numerous other classic car fans, more than 60 motorcycles and many other exhibits from the Motor Company's long history were presented on an area of around 700 square meters. From the 1910/11 Silent Gray Fellow with the original single-cylinder to the modern Pan America 1250 Special with a liquid-cooled V2, all Milwaukee Irons were represented with distinction. There were also numerous information boards about the brand history, pop culture and people who shaped Harley-Davidson.
The curators' concept worked and the exhibition organizers are more than satisfied with the response. Thousands of Harley and classic car fans couldn't miss the opportunity to visit the Central Garage. Because entry was free, visitors were asked to make a donation. An impressive 7,500 euros were raised, which Dieter Dressel and Thomas Trapp then presented to Frank Fechner, managing director of MainLichtblick eV. The aim of this association is to make sick, traumatized or physically impaired children happy.
Dieter Dressel comments: “We were surprised at how much recognition and appreciation our exhibition received from the media, Harley fans and the classic motorcycle scene, and we are proud to use the donation to help unfortunate children have more energy and fun in life “We are really pleased about the great response that '120 Years of Harley-Davidson' caused,” adds Thomas Trapp, “and we would like to thank all visitors, the classic car fans who provided us with historic bikes, and all the helping hands who made this exhibition possible.”
However, the farewell does not mean an end, as many Harley-Davidson classics will continue to be on display in the historic hall of the Harley Factory at Waechtersbacher Straße 83 in Frankfurt.
