Harley-Davidson is in fourth place for new registrations in 2022!
Who would have expected that in the period from January to October 2022, the traditional company Harley-Davidson was surprisingly in a good fourth place in terms of new registrations and even in second place among manufacturers in October.
You certainly won't be popping the champagne corks now, but in view of the difficult situation, 7141 (KBA) new Harley-Davidson registrations this year are still quite good. In contrast to last year, there were 381 fewer up to October, but Harley-Davidson is optimistic and assumes that more motorcycles can be delivered again next year.

It looks like Harley-Davidson will now replace the 107cc Milwaukee-Eight engine with the 114cc Milwaukee-Eight. The highlight, however, will be the Harley-Davidson 120th Anniversary models. They have always caused a lot of excitement and will be sold out quickly. According to Harleysite, production of the 2023 models has already started.
This year was also a difficult year for the Harley-Davidson dealers, but as you can see, they are not the only ones to have suffered, especially BMW (-4555), KTM (-3639) and Kawasaki (-1004), while the decline at Harley-Davidson is still moderate at -381. Only Suzuki (+1266) and Yamaha (+696) were able to make significant gains (source IVM).
Harley-Davidson as an investment
The year is not over yet, but in view of the fact that Harley-Davidson is expecting price increases at the turn of the year, one or the other will still strike if their desired bike is available.
The general demand is high, at Harley-Davidson you can get good money for your used and well-maintained Harley-Davidson as usual.
Because there are so few new vehicles on the market, another trend is developing! Prices on the used market are extremely high and, especially when prices are about to rise, used cars are rising with them.
The difficult situation of the euro due to the prevailing inflation is driving many people to flee from the euro into tangible assets. In the case of motorcycles, the preference is for old Harleys in good condition, but these are hardly available on the market at a reasonable price. With an inflation rate of around 10%, which feels even higher and continues to rise, a possible price increase at Harley-Davidson of 7-10 % from 2023, the arithmetic begins, which could result in a buy signal at the end of the day. The TOP models 2023 at Harley-Davidson
Who would have thought it, according to the IVM, the following three Harley-Davidson models are in the TOP 50 ranking this year.
- Sportster S (930)
- Pan America (677)
- Street Bob 114 (645)
Actually, we always find the Sport Glide there, but this year it has been ousted from the TOP 50.
In the end, Harley-Davidson's strategy seems to be working, the motto is „create desirability“. It's just not so great for the authorized dealers, who lack the units, but compared to other manufacturers, they are probably still lucky.
