For the 2018 model year, Harley-Davidson presents what is arguably the most interesting range of touring motorcycles the company has ever offered. The machines combine unique style with maximum comfort and high performance.
The Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) portfolio is equipped with the largest displacement Harley-Davidson production engine ever, and the Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special models are being launched in a new, all-black look.
CUSTOM VEHICLE OPERATIONS IN THE 2018 MODEL YEAR
Year after year, Custom Vehicle Operations—special design, engineering, and manufacturing teams at Harley-Davidson factories—raise the bar for factory custom styling a little higher. For 2018, they are presenting the CVO Limited, CVO Street Glide, and CVO Road Glide models. These are machines that have been extensively and elaborately refined at the factory and are produced in strictly limited editions.
The 2018 model is powered by the largest production engine Harley-Davidson has ever offered. The 1,923 cm3 Screamin’ Eagle® V2 develops a torque of up to 166 Nm and is used exclusively in CVO models.
The 2018 models feature the most extraordinary paint finishes Harley-Davidson has ever produced. New features include an interface for wireless headsets. A Bluetooth headset is included in the scope of delivery and can be used to communicate with the standard infotainment system, the passenger, or other riders in the immediate vicinity.
Dave Foley, Vice President of Product Planning and Portfolio Management, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, explains: „The new Touring models will be among the most sought-after models in our range in 2018. We have refined the styling and performance of the CVO models. The level of finish and performance has never been higher. Customers will appreciate our attention to detail, such as the colored coating on the lower rocker covers, which highlights the exclusivity of the large V-Twin.“
Brad Richards, Vice President of Styling and Design, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, adds: „The 2018 CVO models are available in nine paint finishes – all of which are unparalleled in their quality. I would particularly like to highlight the color gradient in the paintwork of the CVO Limited, the fascinating depth effect of the paint and its special shine in the sun.“

THE STREET GLIDE SPECIAL AND ROAD GLIDE SPECIAL MODELS
For the 2018 model year, Harley-Davidson is opening a new chapter in the design of the popular Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special models: chrome components have been consistently replaced with black-coated ones. The two hot rod baggers are powered by the powerful Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine with a displacement of 1,745 cm3 and make a strong custom styling statement with their dark look.
Paul James, Product Portfolio Manager at Harley-Davidson, is convinced: „These two custom baggers are probably the trendiest and most confident touring bikes on the market. But they don't just look particularly cool, they also ride superbly, offering first-class performance and plenty of comfort.“
