Slim and strong

Harley-Davidson presents the new Softail Slim

The early custom bike builders were concerned with transforming motorcycles into completely individual, unique pieces. For example, the Bobbers of the 1940s and 1950s - flat, slimmed down and freed from unnecessary decoration.

The new Softail Slim is committed to this purist look - and it offers it ex works! Its creators reduced it to what counts, and despite its massive 16-inch spoked wheels at the front and rear, the wide Hollywood handlebars with a crossbar and the massive fork, it lives up to its name.

The particularly low solo seat and the slim rear with chopped fender fit perfectly into the minimalist design.

The art of omission did not stop at covers – for ignition coils or fender struts, for example. A reduction that visually emphasizes the engine. The Twin Cam 103B has balance shafts to dampen its vibrations and scores with a torque of 132 Nm at 3,250 rpm and an output of 58 kW (79 hp) at 5,250 rpm. It is coupled to the Cruise Drive six-speed transmission, which ensures low engine speeds on the motorway.

Thanks to the Softail chassis with spring struts concealed beneath the engine, the result is a classic rigid frame look paired with contemporary comfort and light-footed handling. The Softail Slim has ABS as standard, the components of which have been discreetly integrated into the styling.

The stylish Cat Eye tank console and the classic half moon running boards pay homage to the swing era. The fact that the Softail Slim, despite its retro styling, is technically completely up to date is highlighted by features such as the standard security system, which activates the immobilizer and alarm system fully automatically.

As fascinatingly individual as this bike is designed ex works, there is actually no need for a single change. And anyone who actually wants something even more individual can simply use the countless options that the Parts & Accessories accessories range offers.

If you want to experience the new Softail Slim for yourself, visit your nearest dealer, it is ready and available in the garage at prices starting at 18,795 euros (Austria: from 22,295 euros).
