For the 2018 model year, Harley-Davidson is presenting what is probably the most interesting range of touring motorcycles that the company has ever had to offer. The machines combine unique style with maximum comfort and high performance.

The Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) portfolio will be equipped with the largest-displacement Harley-Davidson production engine ever, and the Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special models will be launched in a new, all-black look.

THE CUSTOM VEHICLE OPERATIONS IN THE 2018 MODEL YEAR

Year after year, Custom Vehicle Operations – dedicated design, engineering and manufacturing teams at Harley-Davidson factories – raise the bar for factory custom styling. For 2018 they present the CVO Limited, CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide models. These are particularly elaborate and extensively refined machines ex works and are manufactured in strictly limited editions.

In 2018, the engine is powered by the largest-displacement series engine that Harley-Davidson has ever offered. The 1,923 cm3 Screamin' Eagle® V2 develops a torque of up to 166 Nm and is used exclusively in CVO models.

The 2018 models feature the most exceptional paint finishes Harley-Davidson has produced to date. The new features include the interface for wireless headsets. The scope of delivery includes a Bluetooth headset that can be used to communicate with the standard infotainment system, the front passenger or other drivers in the surrounding area.

Dave Foley, Vice President of Product Planning and Portfolio Management, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, explains: “The new Touring models will be among the most sought-after models in our lineup in 2018. We have sharpened the styling and performance of the CVO models. The level of finish and performance has never been higher. Customers will appreciate our attention to detail, such as when they look at the colored coating on the lower rocker covers, indicating the exclusivity of the large V-twin.”

Brad Richards, vice president of styling and design, Harley-Davidson Motor Company, added: “The 2018 CVO models are available in nine paint options – all with a finish that is second to none. I would particularly like to highlight the color gradient in the paintwork of the CVO Limited, the fascinating depth effect of the paintwork and its special shine in the sun.”

THE STREET GLIDE SPECIAL AND ROAD GLIDE SPECIAL MODELS

For the 2018 model year, Harley-Davidson is opening a new chapter in the design of the popular Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special models: chrome-plated components have been consistently replaced by black-coated ones. The two hot rod excavators are powered by the powerful Milwaukee-Eight 107 engine with a displacement of 1,745 cm3 and form a strong custom styling statement with a dark look.

Paul James, Manager Product Portfolio, Harley-Davidson, is convinced: “These two custom baggers are probably the trendiest and most confident touring bikes on the market. But they don’t just look particularly cool, they also drive excellently because they offer first-class performance and a lot of comfort.”
